Not guilty, ALWAYS not guilty. Talk to the city atty. and they'll almost always reduce it.

Defective speedometer.

Or is that only a Milwaukee County thing?

Talk to the city atty, most likely he'll recommend a No Contest plea and they'll amend the charges. Usually something like impeding traffic, etc in Wauk Cnty. Or you can always hire a private attorney and go from there.

And if you plead not guilty, it doesn't automatically go to jury trial or anything. It just gives you time to provide evidence for innocence.

Best bet is to talk to an attorney first, whether it's the city one the morning of your court date, or if you call one on your own.

Let me guess Sunset Dr? If you go to court, you'll get to hear about 100 people who also go busted on the same streets.

Everytime I've gone, they dropped the charge to something lesser with no points and kept the fine.

NO! Where did you hear that?

I've pled not guilty to every ticket I've ever gotten... and have yet to pay for a jury or atty.

me too. You get the option if you want your case held in front of a jury, or just the judge.

plead not guilty. talk to the DA and see what he can do to get it knocked down to something else cheaper and or without points. ive had quite a few tickets and I allways talk to the DA. normally get it reduced to a non moving violation so it doesnt mess with my insurance

the city attorney in waukesha is marie ann isle, shes a bitch. if you have a good driving history she may reduce it to a defective speedo, but she is the 2nd worst city attorney that ive ever worked with. my attorney also said shes tough..... shes also extremely stupid, i have a trial comming up with her at the end of the month. good luck

Don't bother with getting legal help. Most people only do that if they are about to lose their licence or if they are a commercial driver.

I dont know about Waukesha but in Milw my first thought is:

Oh im sorry your pulling me over because you missed the 80mph Escalade in front of me?

Oh are you the guy who couldnt catch the guy braking in my garage?

Oh Im sorry this is because you couldnt cath the guys who stole my kids bike....in my yard....after I dialed 911?

So the guy who tried to rape my daughter was quick to get away, you pulled me over knowing I would stop?

Oh hell you looked at me and figured I was a law abiding citizen, not hard to catch me?

The correct answer is dont speed but Im still pissed at the world.

I got nailed wiht a ticket just like you described once and I ended up taking a pic with my phone of the cop in my rear view mirror and the sign in front of me showing the "new" speed limit. I then used my camcorder(yes I went home to get it) to video the route I had used that showed no posted speed limit on the route I took and that the last posted speed limit sign was the one they pulled me over in front of.....they dropped it completely.
