My dad picked up this 1950 Chevy truck from the New Mexico area. Someone already swapped the frame out for a new style one and did a terrible job at it. It's off center like a mofo. My dad already picked up a 1992 1500, complete to be the donor frame. He is going to shit can the old one.

He just got it a week ago and waited on tearing it apart so that I could see it in person. He is starting now so it can be on the road next spring.

Should be interesting. :thumbsup

He is taking the motor out of the Chevelle (355 sbc) and adding a 4L60. The truck came with a 350 sbc and a TH400. He is taking the TH400 out of the truck and putting that along with a 454 bbc into the Chevelle.

Probably not. He is not into the chopping thing. All he said he wants is a nice old truck with enough power to get out of it's own way. He is going to do air, cruise and all the other old guy stuff.

Thanks Dave! I am with you on keeping the "natural patina" on it. I suggested that he get some interior out of a wrecked Escalade or Yukon. Make it nice and comfy on the inside and leave the outside weathering on it.

Exactly, I saw a Model T sedan that looked MEAN on the outside, but it all nice new leather on the inside. That's the way to do it IMO

Thanks. If I had it my way, I would try to score a 348 or a 409 for the truck.

Put a LSX in that badboy. Hide all the wiring, and black out the windows and interior. So dark on the tint that can't see anything. And leave the natural vintage look.

At work a guy has a 53 Ford truck and I keep telling him to build up a twin turbo flathead for it.

leave the paint Irish and look for a stock bench to reupholster. Do it like 60s red tuck N roll with tan piping. Would look excellent in there. Matching vinyl for the door panels also. Keep it plain. Modern seats look out of place usually in these old trucks. Vintage stewart-warner gauges in the dash and under it. Dress up the SBC like a stock dual-4 barrel hipo 283 out of a corvette....better yet turn the SBC into a 383 stroker and do that.

would look like a 60's-built hot rod shop truck.
