I have been working on my Mustang build for a few years so the progress is a little slower than what most guys or gals would like. I have been buying used but in great shape parts, rebuilt what I can, and patched what is need to make it whole again. I am on a super tight budget so most of the of the parts are craiglist finds, car forums, ebay auctions, and swap meets. I have also been buying my sheetmetal at Jefferson swap meets so I can cut down on shipping and damage.

So far I have new floors, new engine, freshened up C4, new suspension, new trunk with framerails, new brakes, and the list goes on and on.

what i started with ....

Nice! My fiance wants one of those. I can always appreciate a guy doing what he can on a budget and it turning out pretty damn good!

One of my problems that i face on a day to day basis is the mixing of parts. Some of this is me and some is the last owners but I know what I have. Like my rear brakes are 11 x 1.75 which are 1966 Ford f-100 rear brakes. And then all the PO hack and slash workmanship. So i had to do a lot of hammer and dolly work.

Nice progress...dig the slots :D .

I also would avoid buying a project car from the midwest too.

I would so keep them if they were not 14" rims. I think they are 14x6 in the front and 14x8 in the back. Hard to buy slicks on a 14" rim.

I was just gonna ask what size those were. I've been looking for a set of used 15" slots for my stang. Cant find em anywhere!

I am getting rid of them and going with a set of Convo Pros. I just dont like the fact their only 14" rims.

After doing some more work on the old girl. I have her back on the tires. Still need to figure out if I want to minitub it. So I will be giving Ron a call later in the week. It sits much lower than I thought.

Still need outer wheel wells, coil covers, and seat risers. Seat risers will be last since I want Clocks Off Racing to weld in some of those thru floor subframes.

Got it running today. It sounds nasty. Something isn't right, my carb might be screwed up or my timing is off. I just don't know anymore. Without a exhaust I cant hear anything that the engine is doing all I hear is loud noise. I think that I have a miss.

I have a set of Flowmasters laying around which I was thinking of bending some pipes for and seeing if I can quiet it down some to listen to the engine.

Found the last of the rust. I knew it was bad just not this bad. After drilling out about 130 spot welds I was greeted with this. Ford never painted the inner cowl panel to protect it from rust.

and this is what is left now.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x109/gregor53402/Cheapshot/100_0179.jpg

the new panels are on there way and this weekend after I stop by Praxair for some gas it should be back to normal. After I get it finished and the glass put back in it will be on the road. Maybe before my birthday.

OK after a few hours of fitting the patches and butt welding the seams shut I ended up with this.......

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x109/gregor53402/Cheapshot/100_0185.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x109/gregor53402/Cheapshot/100_0186.jpg

and now with it sealed up.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x109/gregor53402/Cheapshot/100_0187.jpg

Now when i pour water into the cowl it drains out the side instead of the floor boards. This is nice even though it will never see rain. It feels great when I see other mustangs with cowl covers that seal the vent off as a bandaid or when they glue plastic top hats with silicon.

if you put this directly before the URL you are pasting and then immediately after the link you will post the image OR even copy that code link that is in photobucket it makes it tons easier to pay attention you want

I can tell you I'm pretty impressed; I'd never have the patience to be able to work on such a project in which years and years of hard work is put forth before one gets the satisfaction of seeing the end result, or even a result that one can put on the street.

Hat tip to you; Keep up the good work, can't wait to see it all done!

not that i can even begin to act like i know the undertaking of a project like this, but its the "little" things like this that make you most proud. even little stuff i do to my daily drivers that make it better and others can't see make me feel great. keep up the good work!

I want to keep the bandwith down as much as possible. I could IMG post them but it would just be too much.

Now that I have seen what your building I have to say your build is much cleaner. Mine be a struggle to keep on the road and carve corners but yours will own them.

And like it has been thru the whole project and picture journal. I was going to build a set of gas struts for the trunk. But once you see rust you cant get rid of it without cutting it out.

This is the last of the rust repair. There isnt much metal that is orginal or hasnt been patched.

Its been awhile from my last update.

Car is in Primer, final pre base coat sanding. In the background you can see the cowl hood. The front valance fit was horrible. a lot of bending, hammertime and taking the bumper on and off to get the fit close to factory.

And its mostly painted, need to get hood painted, pissed off my painter so I will need to end up taking it to some one else to have it finished.

The reason for all the drama was the quality of the base coat, runs and debris and the it was clear coated locking in the flaws. Well that and I was looking for collision grade paint work and got just above garage paint. So at a minimal I am looking at a respray with no jambs.

I had it out in the sun today (for like 5 minutes) and for some reason the flash on my Digital camera couldn't deal with the Metal flake/ quartz in the paint.....

But OH Momma did the color flash off in direct light.

Its color chip is Bright green metallic, or Calypso Poly. But for some reason it doesn't look like it but the jambs match the respray.
