I guess it's just easier to put a GM engine in a Ford than try to replace a GM's interior, exterior, and rear end with Ford stuff:rolf

Maby if ford didnt make such piece of shit motors this wouldnt have happened:thumbsup

The real reason i did this was not for the rear end or the pos suspension thats un der the car its just simply i love fox bodies and this by no means is a strip car.

People make plenty of HP on Ford motors. I mean my bone stock 4.6 is over 500HP (to the flywheel) and it's fine (knocks on wood). I think that although Ford motors may be displacementally challenged compared to their GM counterparts to call them "pieces of shit" is a totally misguided analysis. I still can't see the pics BTW, is this a 350 of some sort or what???

-stew-

500hp/bone stock 3V 4.6? I call bullshit.

whats wrong with ford motors? i know they like to split at around 550-600FHP, but that sbc doesnt look like a 600HP motor either??

He is reffering to a stock long block. there is a whistle on the top end though, hence the 500hp

Correct. And the aluminum block in my car is good to who knows what, I mean generally if people just forge these motors BEFORE they blow, they handle anything a reasonable street car would be asked to.

Hey Ryan,

Since your Chevy wasn't getting it done against my Mustang, when we gonna go again?

I'm looking forward to losing this time! Better make it good.

(P.S. Bob, I'm gonna need to borrow some rubber.)

Im not getting into a chevy vs. ford debate i hate every god loving thing about the blue oval but if i wanted to im sure no one could tell me the 4.6 is a better motor than the lsx .

I went chevy and love it everytime i drive it.

Can i ask how you can tell its not 600 horse? you really have no idea how big the dome piston is how big the cam is if its roller or solid or hydralic , yeah its camel hump heads but can you tell porting ? springs ? can you tell if its a 355 ,383, 396? how in the hell can you tell what amount of horse it makes???? Im really interested in knowing? could be a great advantage for racing at rsd since you can see from the valve covers up and know horse power?

First- You have a 1/2" line feeding a Mr. Gasket fuel rail.... I think you would one of the first people, if not THE first to make 600HP on a Mr. Gasket rail.

Second- Even completely ported with larger valves, ive only seen camel hump heads flow enough for maybe 475HP NA (very generous) I could be wrong, but i dont pay much attention to chevy stuff anymore.

Third- Lets say you did slam some big domes in there with a wicked camshaft, to make as much power as you can with thoes heads.... then i would bet there would be a vaccume canister in there for your power brake booster, but from the one picture that i saw, that does not appear to be the case, thus leading me to beleive that the cam profile is not that crazy, or at least not crazy enough to make 600HP.

Im not knockin the swap really, i just fail to see what the point is for a 400ish hp car when similar results can be acheived by keeping the ford power plant. if you wanted to go low 10s or faster consistantly, and not have to worry about the block splitting then yes, i could justify a chevy swap! but for a street car i wouldnt do it..... none the less, it appears to be a pretty straight foward swap and clean install so i give ya props there!

we will see how things go, Ive got my entire fuel system and K member ready to go in, but havent really worked on it lately. BTW, do all of you 281 CID guys consider 306 CID to be big displacement???? :D to level the playign field out, you do have 8 more valves then i do :thumbsup

I really am happy with with it other than bustin johns balls its not a 600 horse monster im thinking more like 400/400 if i put my plate on it on it i may spray 125 through it even n/a the car moves. I love how thr car sounded with the 302 supercharged so i kept the same flowmasters and my bro who made the headers also made the exhaust its still pretty loud for 2 1/2 exhaust though and 2 1/4 tails to the back im sure its taking away some performance but it sounds perfect to me.:thumbsup

Hey Ryan,

I like the car. I think it looks clean and I personally could care less about the motor make. I just think that your 400/400 against my 300/320 would make a good comparo. I think your car is much lighter, but my car will put 100% of my power to the ground.

I'll hit you up to go out some night when I get back (July 29th).
