View Full Version : Feeler Thread: BCM Golf Outing.....

For some time now I have had the idea of putting together a BCM golf outing and would finally like to get some feedback from everybody. I already received the 'OK' from Andy but haven't gone forward with it because of two reasons. The first reason is I don't have the time to do all the work myself, so I would need some reliable people to help out. The second reason is I don’t think we’d ultimately have enough people attend to make all of our efforts worthwhile. I seriously hope that assumption is 100% wrong and that’s why this thread is being posted.....:)

Please post up your thoughts.....:thumbsup

I wouldn't care one bit but the course's rules would be the deciding factor......

I can't golf for chit...so sounds like I'd fit right in. What kind of assistance would you need if this thing gets off the ground?

I know I'd be in. Yellow Wagon, PureSound, and a couple of us have talked about it for YEARS but never really got it together. Last year I was golfing 3x's a week. This year since the course just opened up in June, I've only been out 3 times. No more golf league and my Sunday's have been filled up :(

Hopefully I can shoot a couple more rounds a week before this outing if it comes to fruition.

I'd be interested. Eagle Springs is a good course for most levels of players and is just a fun course imo. Plus it is only 5 minutes from my house.

That would depend on what kind of outing it is; we could just get together and shoot some golf or we could have door prizes, food, donations, hole contests (long drive, closest to pin, hole-in-one) strippers :goof , etc......

If it was up to me I'd like to see this become a large annual event with sponsors and the works, so many volunteers would be needed......:)

Excellent idea, nothing like extremely attractive beverage cart girls to keep you focused on your golf game......:Hump

I would be willing to help organize. Another option for a place to go is Evergreen Golf Club in Elkhorn. I work there so I bet I could pull a few strings and get us a good deal. Before I ask I will need to know roughly how many people are going to be attending. Let me know what you think.

Evergreen is great. I go there every year for the Midwest Airlines (MEMO) outing. Very nice.

I made a few phone calls and have been asked by every course what kind of outing I’m looking for. So with that said I would like to hear some feedback on how important other aspects of a golf outing (besides the actual golfing itself) are to those who plan on attending......

Food afterwards...???

Soda & 'drinks' afterwards...???

Door prizes...???

Prizes for a hole-in-one (if it happens), longest drive, closest to pin tee shot/chip shot/putt/etc...???

If there's anything else besides the golfing itself that I'm forgetting about please let me know. I have only been to a few (5) golf outings in my life and don't think they are all that different when it comes to the additional activities. Thanks again for all of the feedback so far and please don't be shy to post up your thoughts.....:thumbsup

2 or 4 man scrambles are fun and help people that suck (seems to be the majority of the crowd) not suck quite as bad. I would go for food/drinks afterwards and small donated prizes for best scores closest to the pin longest drive etc. dont get super fancy the first time you try to put one on or you will just kill yourself in the planning of all the details. Make it simple, make it fun and you will keep people coming back.

It would most likely be a 2/4 man scramble and the 'teams' can be picked one of two ways.....

1. Everyone assembles the teams on their own prior to the day of the outing.....

2. Teams are picked at random by drawing numbers out of a hat the day of the outing......

I've played both ways and prefer the random method just because it's more exciting not knowing who you'll be playing with......

Memphis

random sounds better...although I feel sorry for those who get stuck with me! :goof

Random teams of 4 would be a good way for people to meet other BCM people than the ones they typicaly hang around.

stealthy1ss
07-25-2009, 07:36 PM
I think what works best is if you have pre determind teams, lunch before or dinner afterwards, a few hole events, 18 holes, and a 4 person scramble. I bet we could pull this off with the final price of around $40 per person.

Car Guy
07-25-2009, 09:53 PM
Why do you prefer predetermined teams...??? I know there are pros and cons either way but I really like the random method......

stealthy1ss
07-26-2009, 11:03 AM
We could do random but it would be much easier to pick teams ahead of time because then you will already know which cart is yours and which hole you will be starting on. If everyone really wants to do this lets get it rolling because the good weathered days are going to become shitty days at the pace we are on. We need a date and a poll to see who is coming.
