President Obama was meeting with a group of 4th graders when one student, Billy, asked him a question-
"Mr. President, how would you define a tragedy?"
Obama replied, "Why don't you give me an example, and I'll tell you if it's a tragedy or not."
"Ok, if Mark's dad was crossing the street, and got hit by a car, would it be a tragedy?"
"No, that would be called an accident," replied Obama.
"Well," asked Billy, "what if a school bus full of children crashed off a cliff?"
Obama replied, "We would call that a great loss."
Billy thought for a second, then asked, "What if you and Mrs. Obama were in a plane that got shot down by a friendly missile?"
"Yes," Obama said, "That would be a tragedy."
"That's what I thought, because it would be no great loss, and it probably wouldn't be an accident either."
