Ok so when me and jeff left off last night we thought it was weird that the pass. rear tire would not move very good. Today i bolted up the drivers rear adn that spins fine... So i took it all apart again on the pass. drum, and found that the piston would not move on one side and was stuck that way... the other side now has a pinhole in the boot, do i have to replace that whole back assembly now????:fire Im so frustrated this has been the worst time off of work ever...

Could you just replace the wheel cylinder? A rebuild kit is a PITA. Wire wheel the tongs that go inside before you put it back together.

Make sure to hit that wheel cylinder with PB blaster to make them come out easier.

x2,if the wheel cyl piston is locked up,just replace it,its not worth your time dicking with it.

There prolly around 15 bucks from AZ. Plus if it leaks on the shoes it you will be driving down the road one day and it will tear the shoe off. Then it will really start dragging in a super headted, smokie, bad kinda way.

yea its the wheel cyl. that you need to replace should be a 15 min. job if they come out fine just break the brake mine free and unbolt the cyl. it should come out the front place the new on in there start the brake like then put the bolts back in the cyl. to hold it in. tighten the brake line snug then get some one to help you bleed the line. should be a piece of cake. if everything isn't too rusty that is

get some one in the car press the pedal down then you crack the bleeder. close it then and haven them go up. then crack it loose again and tell then down. and so on and so on

its always a good idea to replace the cylinders when doing drum brakes. I have always just done it out of habit. they are cheap enough. just be careful when you loosen the brake line. spray it down with some PB blaster or WD 40. But you dont always have to.
