I tried that without washers, but the bolt started spinning... are the washers necessary???

are you using an air gun or just a ratchet?

if you do it with an air gun you can just spin it a couple times and it will catch. try hitting the back of the stud in to the hole a little bit and then try spinning it.

I had to take the whole hub, wheel bearing assembly off and pound them in from the back..... The impact gun idea just spun them and stripped them out...

thanks for all your help guys...:thumbsup

don't you love it when you just plan on doing an "easy" brake job and then you come across all these problems...seems to happen to me damn near everytime i work on my car...i just did my balljoints today and it wasn't fun...alltho how many chances do you get to pound the piss outa your car with a mini sledge hammer lol...

yeah that kind of sucks. The impact was is how I was taught to do them so thats how i have always done it and never had a problem.
