Ok. Gunna sell my bimmer and thinking about buying a colbalt. Why? Because they are cheap and pretty decent cars. I am using mine as a winter car and a daily. Keepin the neon as a toy. Question for you guys is. Anything I should look out for on these cars. This is the one I am looking at. Link (http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=ascending&sortfield=PRICE+ascending%2cPRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-%7cE-%7cM-_9_%7cD-_7634_%7cN-N%7cR-50%7cI-1%2c7%7cP-PRICE+ascending%2cPRICE+descending%7cQ-ascending%7cZ-53402&aff=national&paId=137408193&recnum=2&leadExists=true)
I'd rather have an auto but the sticks are cheaper. My budget is 7 grand. I'd rather not go over that. And I want low miles. Under 50k. I am tired of replacing shit all the time on old ass high mile cars. I don't need to be fast or for it to be a ferrari. Just a beater remember. What goes out fast on these? Anything all the balt guys are replacing? Any body have friends that have one that comment on them?
Also looking at this one. Link! Any info or such you can give me would be greatly appricated.
Thanks.

If you can find a 05-06 ss with under 50k on it for 7 grand you let me know lol.

I want a basic balt. Just for winter and daily driving. The neon is my toy.

How much you want for the Bimmer?

Are the trans weak or I assume needing replacing because of driver "abuse"? I have the S/C or Turbo Cobalt on my radar for a future daily driver potentially, plan to keep it as a driver though and not beat on it like most owners probably do.

The only thing I could ever find with being a known issue is the metal fatiguing where the clutch pedal connects with the firewall and breaking. I had an 08 G5. Got awesome mileage.

I have 4 people interested in it as of now. But I would rather let it go to a local.

3k and it is all yours. I will probably get the car back on friday.

Has 141k on the clock I believe.

Has brand new: (With in the last 2 weeks)
Plugs in all cylinders
Coil pack on cylinder 3
Valve cover gasket
Plug seals

Has brand new: (With in the last month)
Both front pads and rotors
Driver side caliper
Oil change

Also has a MP3/CD player I put in it that I will include with the car. I will make a formal thread for it after I get the car back and can take pics and such. But if you want it pm me and we can discuss further.

cold air intake header back exhaust and i get 38-40 mpg doing 70 on my way up.. to green bay.. i really like mine aside from replacing control arm bushings because i lowered my car its really been maintenance free minus oil changes.. you can find ls's pretty cheap.. under 8 with 50k'ish miles.

Trannies fail because of abuse. What happens is the car wheel hops and it causes the bell housing to crack.

i believe his issue was completely owner related.. when you make "400 hp" note the quotes because ive never seen a dyno sheet nor any legit proof and you have a wot box on the car things will fail..

From what I have heard the ss and the regular LS are very different. Different everything pretty much. And my dad has one of the ls and it is a great car so far. Not everyone beats on their cars lol.

drivetrains are different between the SS and LS. They are decent daily drivers, decent MPG.

cobalts (except when heavily modded) are very reliable cars, they do well in all weather and are quality built vehicles that can be purchased for less than 8k with around 60000 miles.

completely different for sure the only thing thy have incommon is the shell of the car and the block.

if your looking to get an ls get an auto if you want to make power because the trans are really meant for a v6. if you want fuel economy get the manual like i said with bolt ons i get some fucking awesome mileage.

The 4T45 was never meant for a V6. I have it in my G6. In my G6 it is already at its peak weight and input torque. I can make the transmission slip in the G6.

I got 28mpg city in my 2.2L/F23 on the same route I got 19mpg with my G6 and 15.5mpg with the Silverado. All driving the same way.

just what i was told by a tech.. but i suppose that doesn't say much :) i know there are guys out there who put down 260 hp on stock clutch on the 5 speed manual. regardless i wouldn't personally do anything past n/a bolt-ons with a ls.

You guys don't read lol. I am NOT GOING TO BE BUILDING THIS CAR! IT IS A DAILY DRIVER!!!!!

I will not be beating on it. I will not be modding it. I will not be racing it. I will be getting in, starting it, and driving it to work.
