Id sell mine. I have 7 games, COD4, COD5, Killzone 2 (unopened), Star Wars Force Unleashed (unopened), grand theft auto IV, Midnight club LA, and Lost the Game.

80 GIG unit, doesn't play ps2 games. Have 2 controllers, both rumble, 1 brand new just bought last week. Sell everything for $450. Games alone are worth at least $300. Let me know. Has very few hours on it, I hardly ever use it.

I wouldn't use it as a blu-ray player. The quality isn't as good as a stand-alone blu-ray and the controls are not as nice either. I have the ps3 hooked up to a 52" samsung lcd with hdmi. My upconverting $75 samsung dvd player plays regular dvds with higher quality than the ps3 blu-ray. Just putting in my 2 cents.

Actually, the PS3 is the BEST Blu-ray player out ther on the market right now. Just a heads up.

The ps3 is far from the best blu-ray player.

For once...Neal is correct!

the PS3 is the BEST Blu ray player on the market. reason being is because of the graphic and sound processors.

and to think... the PS2 was the best DVD player years ago.

you would see people with 100k in their sound and video, but then have a PS2 to play DVD's :)

so 05caddyext....your WRONG!

Eh, read some of the second thread Neal posted. I wasn't going to read all 189 pages, so I just read the first and last. Panasonic is superior to PS3 now, just as it was when I bought mine. And it wasn't $300...

For the money the ps3 is the best deal out there as far as gaming counsels and blu-ray players. not to mention its one of the cheapest players on the market.

I love how it up converts my dvds. Its a rather impressive system. This is partially opinion based and some what fact. Don't get me wrong I love my xbox 360 but I do find myself using my ps3 x3 more souly because of his dvd/bluray player.

for what it is worth. i am going to purchase a ps3 for the bluray aspect of it. not really planning on playing any games on it, but if i do it is a bonus!?!?!? in talking and reading to AV buffs, it seems that the PS3 is the best route to go for a bluray player, not only because of the capability, but the cost. why not just get the PS3?!?!?

anyway. good luck on finding one. i will be looking in about a month for one.

I would wait for the next price drop, industry gurus have said that the ps3 will probably come down to the $299 mark in the very near future.

And that single feature makes it the best? Gimme a break...

I don't think anyones eyes can tell the difference in quality on a correctly calibrated tv, using either a PS3 or ____ blue-ray player.

The differences are mostly likely going to be something irrelevant or negligible like 2% deeper black areas.
Besides the fact that a standalone blu-ray player can't play games, or surf the web :p

My brother has both, and probably nearly 200 blu-rays... I think he still uses the PS3 from time to time, because some discs don't load correctly in certain standalones. (He has had 4 different standalone players due to this problem)
Every disc has played flawlessly in the PS3.
The compatibility is flawless.

Actually as of right now the Pioneer BDP-09FD Is the best stand alone player ....But a PS3 is still a good piece.....Fast load times plays just about every blu-ray, And if you have the old 60GB can play SACD ..

Ive always heard that calibrating the tv makes the picture quality a lot better, how exactly do you do it? Do you have to have someone come to your home and do it for you? When I see the side by side screens at best buy I almost always think the uncalibrated side looks better???

Is it worth it? I have a 52" samsung lcd, not a TOC just the regular lcd. And a samsung upconverting dvd player. I also use the ps3 blu-ray but very rarely, I use that for games 99.9% of the time.

Calibration = Totally worth it, especially if you have a nice TV. Made a world of difference on my Samsung.

Yep totally worth it. I did it with my projector. I constantly fucked with it and it turned out awesome. I couldn't imagine how much better it could get if a professional with all the high dollar tools came out and looked at it. Probably have them do it on the Panny 50" plasma if I had the extra dough. But I think I got it going pretty good right now.
