"Big Bang" fireworks meetup?

I know Nick was going to ask around but I thought I would start a thread to discuss possibly meeting up to shoot the fireworks next week.

June 25th on the rocks behind discovery world is where I will be.
I'm getting down there around 6pm to get a good spot and relax before hand.

Are the fireworks fired off from the same spot as the 4th fireworks? Or somewhere else?

MILWAUKEE -- Fireworks are always a favorite for those attending the Big Gig -- and even for some who aren't.

The Big Bang will take place on Thursday, June 25 at about 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. If you can't make it down to Summerfest that night, you can watch the Big Bang live in high definition only on WISN 12.

The U.S. Bank Fireworks take place July 3 at dusk. They are over the lakefront just north of the War Memorial Center.

Still doesn't tell me where these june 25th fireworks are going to be fire off at.

If it's south of veterans park/discovery world, I will still go out to that end of the pier.

I recommend getting your hands on a remote shutter release. Some of my better shots from last year came on 3-4 second exposures and no matter how gentle you are, if you try to work the shutter by hand, there will be movement.

I learned a lot last year and I have been waiting all year to have another go of it.

Let us know where they are at first. I know the pier behind discover world has the best vantage point from all around IMO.

I'd love to get on top of discovery world but I don' foresee that happening.

I have a 6pm softball game that I can't get out of. After that, I can try and hustle downtown to catch up or else I'm going to have to try and find a nice vantage point a ways away.... :mad:

I got info that the fireworks are shooting off in the same location. so Ill be behind discovery world between 7-8

When you say "same location" do you mean the same location as the 4th fireworks or big bang or are they one in the same?

they are usually shot from the middle/south side of that little island. then if you look to the north you can see rock area where we will be.

as for the 4th, those are shot off from a different location. those are more shot by veterans park area. ( at least they were last year )

No go with US Bank but since I work at NM abd we have to decent size buildings over looking that I am trying to find out who we need to talk to to get up there.

I'm not pitching in any money to take photos of fireworks. :)

If that's where the fireworks are going off, I may be going to veterans park instead along the trail facing to the south. Better panoramic view of the fireworks. being on that pier may be too close to the action.

But that island is where they shoot them off. I think I might use the nifty fifty behind discovery world. Also have the 28-105 still. We shall see how they turn out.

50mm still might be too much even at that distance. Depending on how wide you want to go. That's still really close being right behind disc. world.

I shot there last year. They turned out alright, only down fall is that I didnt have my RC remote.

The shots I did at the 4th I never had a remote. I thought they were half way decent
