So after the last few years living in Florida and in Colorado I decided to come back home and settle down.

I decided to do the build out of boredom and I got sick of using Buschur parts since they kinda suck anyways.

To start off heres a list of places that has helped me out over the last year of the build.

TTP Engineering
AWD Motorsports
Strictly Modified
Machine Motorsports
Full Blown

On to the pics

All of this has been done over the last 11 months. With buying a new house, moving in, working 6 days a weeks and only working on the car with overtime money Im pretty happy with the outcome so far.

Theres still a lot of pictures to go but Ill throw them up when I get to my desktop at a later date.

The stats of the car:
2003 Evolution 8
2.0L
Manley rods
Je pistons
Balance shafts removed
Kelford 272 cams
Supertech springs
AMS VSR manifold
BBK Throttle body
Full Blown twin fuel pump assembly
1200cc Precision injectors
A/C removed
Carbonetic triple carbon clutch
Shep trans
Shep t-case
SWracecars 8 point cage (still needs to be installed)
Precision 6262 turbo
Peakboost manifold and 02 housing
AEM EMS

Hope you guys like it and should be on the track soon.

Pressure is set around 40psi and should be a bit over 700whp

That's a cute little motor! Looks like a pretty serious clutch, can the rest of the driveline/trans hold that power?

It's a Shep trans and t-case. It wont break for a while.

But Im not a person for daily updates or on here too much but the car was completed this week

It's heading down to Chicago next weekend for the tuning, since there aren't any good shops here for AEM work. And the shops locally I have no faith in, or would even consider.

I will still need to break in the engine so I might not get to the track this season, but Im hoping.

I honestly think tilton clutches are junk. Go to my first post and take a good look at the puck disk, you will notice stress fractures between the fingers.

C16 is great but Q16 is better. I changed a few things around so I can run E85. I would much rather pay $2.30/gal compared to $15.00/gal, and theres E85 stations all around my house.

Small update.

It runs pretty good. Ill have to change out the throttle body for one that will accept a IAC valve, it hunts around too much for my liking.

I think once the car is done to my satisfaction, it will be up for sale. I have my eyes on a new project already, just need to talk to the wife to see if I can keep both.

Twicks- If you read this, Im looking for a new shop to tune the car, who would you recommend? AMS is at the top of my list right now.

He will probably say Beyond Redline in green bay, thats where he tunes. I believe Luke up there is aem certified. They have the same dynojet AMS has.

I had my evo tuned at AMS and would recommend them for this application. Chris down there is pretty cool. He tunes most of the cars, including the 1100+ whp drag evo. He knows his shit!

twicks69
12-14-2009, 07:51 PM
I recommend Beyond Redline because they will likely be substantially cheaper than AMS for the custom tune, and will provide the same product.

I feel that Luke is a very experienced tuner that can produce consistent dyno-proven results while providing maximum streetability with the tune, instead of just producing peak power numbers. As well, he is a pro-tuner that is AEM Gold Certified. Luke has tuned several 1000+whp vehicles over the years and is extremely competent in numerous platforms; not just DSM's or Evos.

Chris at AMS is a very good tuner, but I do prefer Martin over Chris for tuning.

Both shops are very competent and can serve your needs.

As well, I believe that Luke at Beyond Redline does have dyno time available currently, and should be able to fit you in depending on YOUR schedule.

Good luck, and keep in touch!

SSLEVO
12-15-2009, 08:20 AM
Good info Tim, i wasn't sure if Luke has tuned cars nearing 1000 whp, thats why i recommended AMS. I'm not sure how long it would take or how they would charge for this type of tune, for what it's worth, they both were about the same price for a dyno tune on my bolt on evo. AMS is a very busy place, like Tim said you may have more time to work with it up in Green Bay.

EvolvedRegal
12-15-2009, 03:09 PM
Thanks Tim and SSLEVO, I figured you would say them. When I called AMS they were about 6 weeks out just to get on the dyno :(

I do agree Martin is an excellent tuner, Ive met him a lot of times over the last few years all over the US.

Ill give them a call this week.

12-15-2009, 03:14 PM
Just talk to Luke and he will set you up! If you want, you can tell him that I recommended you, and he will probably cut you a break on the pricing a bit.

They are great people to work with!

Had a few mishaps in the last few weeks.

Engine developed a oil leak, so today since I have the day off Im going to try some of that UV engine oil dye to see where its coming from.

If anyone is interested this is the UV dye Im using, I don't believe in stop leak so I wont be using the 2nd part. I hate band-aid fixes.

Good news. Car is leak free.

Im waiting on a call back from Strictly Modified in IL for the WOT tune. Should be done in 2-3 more weeks. I really want it done before the first RSD.

If the power isn't where I want it I have a billet 6765 waiting to go on as well. Thats been proven to 900whp a few months back.

Sweet ass build!! Sometimes I miss my dsm...not alot though;) Question for ya...my old mans regal is running c16 and its just getting silly expensive to buy...so I said hey what about e85. We both have no experience with this new fuel. He is running a FAST computer which I know alot of people are familiar with tuning. But this e85 idea we have been thinking about for a bit. Any info on people that could tune a FAST for e85 use would be great! It would be nice to just have the car re-tuned for e85,pump,and c16. Just pull out the laptop and load the new program.:) I hear the difference between a pump gas tune and e85 is about 50% more fuel flow outta the e85 but wayyy more power before your detonation point. Either or e85 getting dumped in the motor still looks cheap next to c16.

Fast (as with almost any standalone) can do it. We are tuning Jim's GN to run on e(98) and he is running the XFI.

The FAST XFI has a VE table which you want to keep constant through the change. So basically the biggest change you will want to make is in the "fuel energy constant" or whatever it is called.

I was thinking about them but I wanted to keep it with the original tuner now that he branched off to another shop with a dyno.

It was going to be road tuned by Strictly Modified but with me not knowing any of the streets down there I would be beside myself the entire time. Dyno is much safer for everyone and if somehow something goes wrong with the engine I dont need to run back and grab the trailer.

The next 12 days are going to be rough. Few things I want to do:

Change plugs
Change oil
Empty gas tank and refill with E85.

The cams I run are the Kelford 272, best IMO for street/strip. All I need now are either the FIC 2150 or the ID2000 injectors. Like I said earlier the 1200s I have in there now will be maxed out pretty quick. I highly doubt Ill be able to hit 30psi.

i believe your fuel lines will max out before you max 1200cc correct me if im mistaken.
I know you have stated ur going e85 and have c16 on the side.. i'd say just stay with c16 tune so you can throw whatever boost you want and not have to worry about giving 30% more fuel.

I dunno if anything is wrong. When researching I assumed it would be in the low to mid 4000s with a 2.6l. And yes it is an inline 6

Just as EvolvedRegal is saying most 2.0 evo guys see full boost around 5000. 2.5l STi's see full boost around the same as I do.

As for my housing it is a little bit on the smaller side, but then again my car is built more for road racing. I may try a .82 A/R T4 in the future just to see.

Also a .68a/r T4 is not actually that small of a housing... Maybe you are little confused. You did read that I said T4 right?

EvolvedRegal

Wouldn't Titan have a T3 mainfold for that engine. I know they are getting more involved with the RB engine line.

Not sure if Geo is still working there but might want to ask.

.82 ar will help on top end also and you will most definitely see spool difference. yea, i have t4 1.06 ar.. soo .68 are kind of small in my eyes lol.

i dont know much about evos, but we run dual walboros or dual bosch pumps with -10lines with 1600cc @ 37 psi.. the injector duty cycle was only @ 67%
on 72mm turbo. of course this was on c16. I just never trusted e85 i know it's been proven and cheap but 30% more fuel??? nahh i'd rather spend the money.

1.06 t4 IMO is a bit of a waste.

You do know that the car with the highest horsepower on a 6262 was running a .8X t3 AR turbine housing (which is roughly equivalent to a .68 t4)

Yea I am curious to see if going to a .82 AR will change any of the spool characteristics on my car. I suspect it would stay the same or maybe get a *little* worse. Just depends on how much I value response versus top end power. Which was the whole point of changing turbos in the first place I used to have a 67mm gt40 lots of top end. While it was fun for a street/drag car no response and all top end kind of sucked on a road course.

on 72mm turbo. of course this was on c16. I just never trusted e85 i know it's been proven and cheap but 30% more fuel??? nahh i'd rather spend the money.
good luck! i wanna see 500+awhp :)

Yep, twin walboros. The -6 line was hard enough to route to the front without hacking anything up, I would hate to see what -10 would look like. The pump assembly is directly underneath the rear seat on the drivers side and there is ONLY maybe 1" that you would be able to snake something through. It's a poor design for what I want to do to it.

Made 518hp @ 24psi, 94%IDC, real bad ignition break up around 6200.

Left it at that since I didn't bring along extra coil boots (one looks a little fried). Car rips on the street. Got another C6 kill after we got home.

Devin and my self will be meeting up again to get a small "touch-up" when the ignition problem is fixed or else I can just send him my logs.

Overall Im pretty happy. All I need to do is bigger injectors and fix the coil boots.

The ignition problem has been resolved. It ended up to be the cam position sensor.

Heading back to the dyno June 5th, hopefully the bigger injectors will be in by then.

Well it wasn't the CPS. Everything went for hell after I posted.

I just sent the entire ignition system out to get checked over and there were quite a few broken wires and broken contacts.

Should have it back today.
