my buddy's 99 malibu over heated and died out on the road...he tried to restart the car and it wouldnt do anything at all...he had it towed to a shop and they told him it was an intake manifold gasket that needed to be replaced and they would go from there...anyhow he didnt have the 600 they were going to charge him so he had it towed home...is his engine toast? what else would cause it to not do anything after overheating? any other ideas? thanks

when you turn the key it just clicks once and nothing..battery is brand new as well

Last 3.1 I worked onv with a hot battery and a starter that would only click had a motor locked tight as a drum.

Hope his mileage is better.

Could be hydro locked too, pull all the plugs out and try to roll it over by hand.

Intake was probly leaking so bad that it over heated. Over heating now either caused the engine to seaze up now or the intake leaked so much coolant into the cylinders its now hydrolocked. Let me know if hes intersted in selling the car.

Remove the serpentine belt, too. I've seen people replace motors for what ws nothing more than a locked up alternator.

Could have been a head gasket too, somewhat common. Cylinder filled with coolant and now in won't turn over. Pull the plugs and try and crank it.

Gm stuff will shut off at 235 degrees, but should restart once below, if it wont do shit but click, time for a junkyard 3100 id presume.
