looking to upgrade my 42" hp plasma tv for the living room. i will keep the plasma for the bedroom or basement(maybe garage) when we finally close on the house..

either way does anybody have any experiance with the new LED tv's?
any pro's or con's with them from the LCD?

i know LCD>Plasma but how does the LCD compare to LED?? is it worth the extra coin?

i will probably get another 42" maybe a 50" but nothen bigger than that.

I have to disagree with the LCD>Plasma from a gamers perspective. The reason I went Plasma is becuase its refresh rate (hz) is off the chart when compared to an LCD. And games definitely got streaky on the LCD I used to have.... that and sports .

but back to your questions, I have no clue.
Im sure this will be very helpful.

only reason i said LCD>Plasma is because the picture seems MUCH more clearer on an LCD than a plasma.. i don't game much so its not that big of a deal. but i do watch sports..my brother has a LCD and it just seems like his TV is VERY much more clear and crisp lines and the color is Brighter....

^ i wouldn't mind paying 2k for it..IF it IS worth it.. when i got my plasma it was $1800 and i got a $450 tv stand free with it. now you can get my tv for less than 1k.. its just that old i got my plasma when the LCD tv's first came out. im sure just like the rest, the LED tv's will drop in price in a year or so.

the led tv's are insanely thin. I saw them at best buy the other night. Leds would last longer to wouldnt you think?

From what I heard: you can't game on an LED, but they are thin and last.

The new Samsung LED LCD claims a 40% savings in energy from a typical LCD tv. Plasma's use comparatively more energy i thought than LCDs to start with, so the LED LCD would save more. The 8000 series one has a 240Hz refresh rate I believe.

I'm not sure if I buy the you can't game on it thing? But I also have no first-hand experience from it.

Also if I remember right the Samsung LED LCD has only HDMI inputs so you would have to hdmi compatible stuff also.

I have a Samsung LED-DLP 1080p 56" and i love it, its so so when viewing avg cable channels but HD is one of the most life-like ive seen and if there is other light in the room, it doesnt wash out the picture either.

so when the sun shine's in the patio doors on the tv it doesn't make it look like shit? my plasma looks great when the sun isn't on it and im watching HD channels..
