Oh ya that one british speed channel really ripped it up too.

Dunno for 1200 you could hack it up pretty good and maybe get a fun ride out of it for cheap.

wow that actually looks like a nice little project but i don't even want to try and trace down the "electrical problem" that it might have...

It would be cool going down the road listening to Joe Walsh..

"My Maserati does one-eighty-five
I lost my license, now I don't drive
I have a limo, ride in the back
I lock the doors in case I'm attacked"

The Maserati Bi-Turbo is well known for causing it's owners terrible grief. Ever notice how you never see one of these for sale with over 60k miles? That's because nobody has ever been able to keep one running long enough to put that many miles on. The reliability of these (or lack of) make a late 90s Kia look like a Toyota Camry.

Anyone find a link to Top Gears review of this car? I heard it was comical.

I'd buy it, but I'm against gay turbos.

I used to caddy for a guy with one...this was around 1988-89 or so. Even at the time, everyone knew they were utterly unreliable, including the owner.

But I have to admit, for it's time, it really was a great looking car...latter models would get larger fender flares, wider tires, etc and compared to what you typically saw on the road, it was impressive looking.

It was also the last car I can think of that commonly backfired as it came tuned from the factory. The v6 was actually a really good sounding engine with all the cackling/pops as it drove around.

In all fairness, my car has been running, unchanged, for a year now.

It does need a new oil filter though (accidentally changed the oil while trying to remove s dead sensor in the oil pan...)

You wont hear me argue that one. :thumbsup

I have had 5-6 years of DSMless happiness, I just haven't changed my SN in years since people on various boards know me as it.

I think there was a top gear episode where they dropped a wrecking ball or dumpster on top of the car and crushed it.

Ya know, at that price it might be worth it to buy that and put a reliable Japanese or American engine in there. I think a Ford 5.0 would fit right in there. People used to drop SBCs into Jaguars all the time.
