My 92 vw golf gtd special

Alrite here is probly the last vehicle i probly thaught i would ever buy. but here is why i did 1. its a turbo intercooled diesel 2. it gets 50+ mpg 3. its clean 4. it was cheap! way cheaper then what some tree huggin diesel vw owner would pay. the golf gtd special was NEVER issued in the states. everything is in kilometers. google is my new best friend when i drive.(thank god for cell phone internet) It was manufactured at the poland vw plant. I bought it from a family friend who bought it from canada from the original owner who imported it from poland. This is a GTD special but NOTHING is special about it. No power windows (inc moonroof), locks, steering, has an arm rest delete no joke. surprised it has a radio. The power plant is a 1.6l idi diesel. Has a tiny ass turbo and a stupid top mount intercooler with no induction to it.:durr the "special" was a 80hp version. if u know me i have diesel a.d.d. so i cranked the pump up with in the first hour i owned it.:rolf I deleted the muffler and swiss cheesed the air box for some more flow. i sware to god its twice as fast as it was on the ride home. i probly will tweak it some more after i finish my truck. i have no plans on making it "european" or ricer. i want to put some black 17s on it and the "big bumpers" as it makes them look better if its possible. i painted the moldings black from the sun fadded grey.. i am going to make a sticker that says "mined NOT harvested" for the back:D

it is, cuz i just put it down off the jack. it doesnt look like that all the time.

waukesha/pewaukee. I know the family that owned it and brought it to the states. it hasnt been "around" here in 3 years. he moved to tennesee to live his grandparents.

im sure it will cuz i tightened the AFC down hard (low boost fueling) so it will get up and go a little faster. i currently have 350km (217mi) on a 1/4 tank of 15 gallons at the moment so it couldnt have hurt it to bad. i have been driving it pretty hard too... i think it should get well into the 50mpg range still on the highway.

im sure the older ones are alot easier to work on than the one i had, and i think the deisels are more realiable... mine was horrible to fix and it broke alot. lol.

thanks i will make it "look" better with the big bumpers. i should have left the hood popped at the show so it didnt look like some pos vw sitting there. it was quite histarical when i fired it up to leave and its rollin coal i sware it looked like a group of smileys :stare:stare::eek::eek::stare :thumbsup

lol i had mine to 170km. dash goes to 180km so what ever that calculates too in mph. it took like a 1/2mi from 100km (around 60mph) :rolf
