So I was wondering, if your engine had a problem internaly which would you use? I have what sounds like a wrist pin going or something with the piston but I don't want to pull the motor yet.

The cheap stuff if you have a problem like that oil is not the fix!
Save some money and go with regular engine oil IMO.

Oil is definately not going to do anything to help......oil is just the car's "blood," it cannot correct mechanical damage/malfunctioning parts. Fix whatever is really wrong, then use a nice oil, and your car will be fine.

Not to mention almost all synthetics on retail shelves are not true synthetics anymore, they are just highly refined conventional. Really the only true synthetics are Amsoil or Royal Purple.

x2 Use a heavier oil and the noise should quiet down a bit. Seen it work on a Explorer with a loud as hell top end. Castrol 20w50 FTW

Or if you wanna get really ballsy you could use 80w90. Takes a couple minutes for oil pressure to build though. :goof

ok so maybe I should have specified. I am planning on a different motor but for now I just want to help it run a little better. I know it won't fix the problem just want to help ease the suffering on it a bit.

Put some pressure on the top end. N20 will keep it tight till she blows. :goof

Just mess with ya. Try some Lucas oil treatment with plain old conventional motor oil.
