BMW has finally pulled the wraps off its new S 1000 RR superbike, and let's just say we're anything but disappointed. First, the most important bits: 193 horsepower at 13,000 RPM, 82.5 lb-ft of torque at 9,750 RPM, 455.3 pounds with a full tank of gas. For those keeping track – which is probably just about anyone interested enough to read this post – those statistics are enough to give the big Beemer the most horsepower and best power-to-weight ratio of all literbikes intended for public consumption.

Damn that is sweet. I want the black one. I would love to trade up from my R1100R to that thing or even the K bike, gotta get something sportier.

That thing is Sick. If I were 20 years younger. Never mind I'd probably be dead.

I could shave some weight off that bike and give it some more hp, what a SICK hp to weight ratio that bike would be!

Actually that bike has the highest power to weight of any production bike. I was just looking at that bike on my R6 forum. I would so rock the green.

I seen that, however you have to think of what others are doing with powercommanders ect ect.

However when you start with the best ratio, add more power and take weight off...you're only going to better the ratio! or kill yourself :rolf

Anyone know if any of the local BMW shops have one on the floor? I gotta take my bike in for some service anyways, wouldn't mind looking at one in person

How does this fair against the MV Agusta f4?

BMW said the bike should be within 10% of the Japanese bikes.

I like this thing.

what BMW says and what dealers price is at are 2 different numbers....

i.e. Gt500, Z06, GTR

True, but in this economy dealer mark up isn't nearly as rampant as it used to be.

I remember back in 2000 I wanted to buy a MR2 Spyder. The dealers had them marked up almost $10.

Sure exotics are being marked up but BMW's intention it seems with this bike is mass appeal. To take some sales from the Japanese sport bikes. They aren't going to get that having them marketed up outta price. Japanese sport bikes sell more then Euro sport bikes mostly because of the price.

BMW bike dealers are hurting just like everyone else in this economy. You f*ck around and start marking the thing up too much and they won't sell the way BMW wants them too. As a dealer owner you would have to recognize that and price them appropriately.

With that said, I'm sure there will be places marking them up.

I can't believe that's a BMW bike. The ones in our parking lot look goofy. That's pretty damn hot.

Yeah the BMW sport bikes are leaning farther and farther away from the traditional BMW bikes. No boxer engine, no driveshaft/swing arm.... I wonder if it is as comfortable to ride as most other BMW bikes?

The looks of other bmw bikes.

Understandable. I thought you were about to make a crack at the owners.

I think they are ugly too, but I still want one. I like the F650GS.

The 1198s is $16k. I would much rather have that. Single side swingarm ftw!

If this is a sexy superbike that doesn't push your nuts into your crack like the MV or the Duc, it would be sweet.
