Sweet, nice to see another turbo car on the board! Do you really have a 3.5" down pipe, or is it 2.5"?

The inlet is only 3" but the rest is 3.5". I got out the ruler and because it darn well didn't line up with the HKS 3" exhaust (was bigger) so I had to have it welded so it tapered into the exhaust. Great downpipe though.

Also don't forget at least a clutch, wideband, and better fuel pump when you put in that last set of mods.

Nice. You should leave the car just the way it is. Nice and clean. I loved the GSX wheels. I had real GSX wheels on my 3rd Gen.

Welcome to the site!

Thankfully, your engine has a better split-thrust main bearing design that was updated from the earlier 1995-1996 design, and the major worries of crank-walk has been substantially diminished. As well, you have a better main girdle design with the 1997-1999 engines when being compared to the 1991-1992 6-bolt engines, so there is no real reason to swap to a 6-bolt.

Keep your 99 motor and start modding!

As well, the SC61 is a very capable turbo when used with a T3 or T4 turbine housing. If you use it with the Mitsubishi housing, expect 500whp to be a barrier due to the flow restriction of the turbine housing. As well, be careful with the SC61 when utilizing an internal wastegate as it will have boosting issues with boost control and boost creep, simply for the fact that the internal wastegate cannot flow enough exhaust gasses to properly regulate boost at relatively low to moderate boost levels. I would strongly suggest starting off with a DNPerformance T4 tubular exhaust manifold, along with a 0.70A/R T4 undivided turbine housing and a TiAL 44mm external wastegate with a dumptube. This proven setup can get you above 600whp with a quality tune, and some bigger injectors (880cc or 1000cc).

If you need any help, feel free to PM me as I am in Waukesha, and know a couple things about these cars. As well, I also rebuild transmissions for them.

Good luck with the car, and we'll see you around!

When he says he knows "A couple things" he really means hes like a Eclipse/Talon guru. With as many transmissions that car has gone thru, I'm sure Tim can throw a new trans in a Eclipse in maybe an hour. Haha.

Thanks a bunch!
The turbo does have a T3 housing so I am good to go on that and I do have a Tial bov. But as for the rest of the parts that sounds like a real quality set up. As for walking, I am also on dsmtuners and have read a lot on both sides of the issue. The car has really been taken care of so I think I will just build it and hopefully there won't be any issues seeing that it is built right.

Thanks a bunch and I will prob see you around, I'd love to see your car! haha :)

The multi-quote tab is the middle one in the bottom right corner when you respond by quoting a post. Highlight the posts you want by clicking on the multi-quote tab, then click on the quote tab to create the response and it will automatically imbed the quotes you clicked on into your response..
