Right now I have a Socket T board dead in my old Dell. It has a Pentium 4 processor 3.0ghz, 800fsb. I need a motherboard for it, can anyone recommend me a GOOD one, or a better alternative? Thanks-Dan

Personally I say stick with Intel brand motherboards, they have the lowest annualized failure rates which far outweighs any negligible performance advantages other brands might have.

This is a good cheap replacement that will be better than the original and has the ability to upgrade to a Core2 Quad processor if you want to in the future. $57 isn't a bad price either.

Keep in mind that you need to be able to swap out the I/O plate in the back of the chassis (the piece with holes for the keyboard/mouse, vga and other ports). A lot of Dell chassis have fixed holes and plate is not removable to accommodate different motherboards. You can either replace the chassis or get out your dremel and make a rectangle hole in the back of the chassis to accept the universal adapter plates like most chassis have. The LED and switch harness will also not be a direct plug and play with a new motherboard. The pinouts vary by model so you will likely have to modify the harness.
