i think it's the 160+ deaths to the 230+ people that have it that people are worried about.

i think it's terrorits.

The majority of the deaths are in Mexico being like 140 I believe. The 60 or so cases in the U.S. and only one toddler death.

The flu kills what, 30,000 people annually? The media needs to freak out about something. Just like every news station yesterday had breaking news about Specter going from Republican from Democrat after how many decades. (if thats the most breaking story they can come up with, maybe they should get some new reporters)

The media just LOVES to sensationalize everything to ridiculous proportions. Remember back in winter, if it looked like there might be significant snowfall, they acted like armageddon was upon us. They eat these situations up like candy....."OH! LOOK!! Awesome opportunity to terrify John Q. Public! YESSSS!!!!!"

i watched the fox 6 report last night and thought something was odd. they were talking about all the people going to the ER and how they should stay home. then they interviewed a doctor. the doctor basically said that pretty much everyone that gets this swine flu will be fine. he said that it is no different than any other flu. you will be sick for a couple days, and then you will be fine. he said that the only demographic that has to really worry is children under 1 and the elderly?!?! the question i have is......why didn't they come out and say this right away? this sounds like nothing more than a widespread case of the common flu according to him? don't we in wisconsin put up with this every year? why not get the doctors on the news instead of these politicians that scare the crap out of people? i will admit, i started to get a bit worried myself, not for me or my wife, but for our daughter, who is almost 2. my wife works at a clinic and is around sick people all the time, and my sister who babysits, gets sick all the time from school. i even had my wife pick up a few extra things grocery shopping to put in the frreezer incase it got bad. now, after watching fox 6 and listening to a DOCTOR, who we should have been hearing from in the first place, i feel a bit silly. i hope that i can return that "swine flu proof tin foil hat", LOL!

Sweet Lord above. Did SARS end the world? No.

Did AIDS? No.

Bird Flu? NOOO.

Even the Black Plague didn't.

Global Warming (which doesn't exist). NOOOOOOO

Media these days does an excellent job spreading panic and millions have fallen for it.

My 2 cents, rip it if you wish.

From what i heard this was something a little different because it was going after healthy 20-40 yr olds that typically are NOT affected by the flu. I'm not saying we should be that scared of it but i think it is a little more extreme than the everyday flu. Although, we have yet to see a non "high-risk" person die in the US so that makes me think the healthcare in mexico is very poor.

My sister has what I had a week ago and they gave her a mask and told her to stay home. Her test results come back from Madison within a few days.

I just drove to Toronto last week, woke up there with a sore throat. In fact it was so swollen I couldn't button up my shirt or tighten my tie too much. I could barely speak and my ears were so plugged. I felt terrible. The day after my bones felt like they wanted me dead. Then I woke up sweating my ass off feeling like I could run a marathon. Now I'm just hacking stuff up out of my lungs and I'm mildly congested.

I dunno what I had, I think I got it from staying awake nearly 24 hours to drive straight through to Ontario.
