The boss takes everyone at my workplace on field trips if it's science related. Pretty much a free day of pay, and hopefully a field trip that doesen't suck too much. The problem is, no one can think of anywhere cool to go. Anything science related is good with biology and DNA stuff being the best. Got any ideas?

Good idea examples: the science fair before the brewers game this wens. The big boat on lake mi that does algee testing, ect. ???? I want a free day off work, lol.

How about measuring friction coefficients and drag on steel poles. Silk could probably assist you with getting some test subjects. :rolf

If you want to take a cruise the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is awesome.

How about a SPELLING "FEILD" trip? :goof

I'm heading to Chi-town tomorrow to check out the Aquarium. There is an excellent planetarium in Chicago too.

Plant tours I've taken

P&H Mining
Ladish
Harley Davidson

Tours I need to set up
Bucyrus
Regenco

Tours that MSOE has taken
Felins
ACE Precision
Dresser Waukesha
Signicast
Rexnord
Price Engineering
BRP
Waukesha Electric Systems

P&H was pretty impressive, and I look forward to visiting Regenco. Nothing I know of biology and DNA related though.

Thanks for all the ideas! I'll pass them along and hopefully get to check a few of the places out.

I work for a very small company that builds DNA imaging equipment in Hartland. We only have about 7 full time employees and 6 part timers that work at this location, so it's pretty easy to round everyone up for a trip. btw, I also go to school at MSOE part time.

I go to UWM, but I'm in contact with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers(ASME) at MSOE.

I gotta say, the Shedd Aquarium (Chicago) was pretty awesome, but IDK if it'd be a good all-day field trip for a bunch of kids. My g/f and I were there for like 2 hours and saw EVERYTHING.
