CLR ??? not sure if that would mess up the paint or not tho... might just have to sand/repaint..

Rust is iron oxide if I remember correctly. There for it will etch the clear coat and paint. The damage is done, time to repaint.

Ding Ding Ding. If you have little spots of rust on your vehicle most likely it is from the roads. Pick up a clay bar it will remove all of those spots and any oxidation in your paint finish.

We use a bar, then buff. But like Dan said, if it bit the clear you are dead in the water.

Rubbing compound as long as it's on the surface.

I have a small rust spot bubbling under the paint in my hood (FTL) Can anyone on here help me out with it or at least give me some guidance? I don't have a problem doing as much work myself as I can, but I already found out painting is not something I am good at. Would be also willing to trade mechanical labor for it.

Sorry if thread-jacking

x2 clay bar ftw... after that a nice coat of wax and the stain should dissapear!
