i guess let me ask the question... if your going through the trouble of putting a turbo on a 4.2L, shouldnt you know the answer to this question? A STOCK computer would be the obvious and only choice?

I always thought about doing that to my envoy, AEM is a common, but i would look into using the factory one first if possible, depends on your goals i guess.

its a laptop based tuning software that plugs into your obd2. its a great sotftware and it supports almost all gm cars and trucks plus a few car manufactures. gm tunes suck for the cobaltss its pretty normal for a stg 2 cobalt to put down a lot better numbers with a custom tune because gm stage tune is pig rich for safety reasons.

How is this thing getting turbo'd? Not sure anyone makes a kit? You realize that motor is like 10.0:1 CR to start with correct? Not trying to sound like a know-it-all dick here, but im affraid you dont realize all the shit invloved beyond bolting a kit on and thinking just a tune will magically make it work and last forever, forged internals or not.

yeap forged internal., believe me if i spend some money for my wife, i have to make sure it doesn't brake on her......... Puerto rican woman can not get angry ......... i do alot of towing and traveling so a turbo will be interesting i guess ..... custom manifold wont be a problem .....:) i will post pics soon ...

I dont think they ever made a 2 door envoy?

and I thought the envoy was only a trailblazer based GMT360 platform.... on 03 or 04, the GMC variant of the s10 blazer was still the jimmy

if u really are doing this to ur 03 envoy wouldnt it be cheaper and a less pain in the ass to sell/trade in for a trailblazer ss. i mean has this even been done before??

I think it would be a cool project, idk if its been done before though. I do agree the 4.2L needs some help down low. I think they were shooting for "the highest hp in it's class" claim, who the hell wants power in a truck at 5,000 rpms?

i mean yea it would be a cool project. it would be a sleeper for sure which is totally cool. im just saying from the aspect of having to figure how to mount everything for the turbo and all the pluming, dicking around with what works and what doesnt. and thats now counting all the down time the truck would see while you mock everything up. im not to sure how happy the girlfriend/wife would be once the thing has been sitting and getting no kinda of drive time

Yes, we've told him that many many times but him and his wife still want to do the project.
We are NOT going for "highest horsepower envoy". Just Daily Driver TT 03 GMC envoy and tow truck :). Plus she can go pick up the kids little bit faster :goof.
It will be an interesting Turbo kit :). when we start on it, pics definitley will be up! until then stay tuned!

i think there was a guy with a 4.2 (trailbalzer/envoy motor) that had it in a nova wagon on drag week. I think they said it make 1000 at the crank? it did go 8.90's amd stood it on the bumper so i wouldnt doubt it.
