I have no idea why this posted 3x today!
Sat night Jeff Beck played here in Milwaukee and my daughter managed to meet him and his bass player (Tal Wilkenfeld)
My daughter is 12 and plays bass (upright acoustic & electric and std electric) and when I found out Jeff was coming to town I wrote to Tal's management to see if my daughter could meet her when in town. Her manager replied that he would try and set something up for us.
Sat morning I got an E mail from him that we would have tickets and backstage passes waiting for us at the hall.
It goes without saying that it was a killer show! Tal is an incredible bass player and Jeff makes being a guitar god look very easy. I'm not going to run down the whole set list but Stratus was incredible and he closed with a stellar version of Peter Gunn before throwing his Strat on the ground and calling it a night. It was my 5th time seeing Jeff live (saw him with SRV, Santana and 2x solo) and my daughters first time. Her hearing is back to normal now. It was a general admission concert and we spent most of the time to the right of the stage and worked to the front as it went on. I managed to bring my camera along and got some good shots at the beginning. After 4 or 5 songs security had a chat with me and made me put the camera away. They were nice about it so I'm not bitching too much.
After the show security took us upstairs to wait for Tal. She was very nice and my daughter loved talking with her. We spent about 45min with her and she grabbed Jeff for us. I gave him a few car magazines and he signed the pick guard for my Strat before they went off to dinner. Jeff was very nice and relaxed and talked to my daughter like an adult.
Overall a pretty good night. It's a shame that no one my daughter goes to school with will be impressed when she tells them who she met.
