To make a long story short the wife and I have been looking to get a German Shepherd for a while, and a few months ago we gave a rescue a shot. In the end it didn't work out with the rescue dog and we ended up fostering/training him for 2 months, and giving him back (one of the hardest things to do BTW! :crying)

In any case we kept looking to get either a puppy from a reputable breeder or a slightly older dog. We ended up finding an 8 month old "pup" named Rico from a local breeder. I say pup because well he technically is still young and has some filling out to do. However he is a BIG BOY (80-85 lbs now), I have never seen a GSD in his/her teenage years that looks like he does, absolutely stunning. His personality so far has been great. Very confident in his new environment, loves to play (obviously) when you get a toy, and yet at only 8 months he just settles down once it is quiet time. So far perfect match for our lifestyle! Without further ado here are some pics I snapped of him yesterday and today.

And here is a pic of his dad. Gives you an idea of how he will likely fill out. Breeder says he may get more red as well as he gets older.

Awesome! We have a Belgian ourselves. You got him at the perfect time... just as they're shedding like friggin' crazy.

P.S. Please take that choker off of him while he's kenneled. You don't want him getting caught on any of those bars and choking himself out. :thumbsup

My wife wants a GS next...but with the two dogs we've already got, it's going to be either a french bulldog or simply wait until we have a house with more land, lol.

Good looking dog...are you going to do any special training w/ him?

Thanks for all the kind words, I'll pass them on to him :)

Ron,
I'll definately bring him by next time, he rides well in the car.

For the collar he actually came with the choker, and thanks for the heads up. Yea we likely only use that one for training, and have one of those "Tuff" collars that we will probably give him for everyday use.

Training wise we will likely do something basic and get him a BH title or something. His parents (IIRC mom for sure) have SchH3, but honestly that is WAY more than my wife and/or I are capable of. He will just be a companion dog and his natural protection instincts are probably more than enough for us.
