Ok, I picked up a very nice set of Infinity Reference speakers to install into my Crown Vic for a very good price. Only thing is, the car takes 6 X 8's in the rear deck and I ended up getting 6 X 9's. Is there any kinda adapter made so that I don't have to hack up my rear deck?

They'll probably fit, Tom. Did you try yet?

Nope, Haven't messed with it yet. Gotta pull the rear seat and package tray out to get too the speakers so I gotta wait for a much nicer day. Hopefully they do fit, That way all four speakers will be a matched set.

I'm 99% sure that the hole in the back is for a 6x9 and the factory speaker sits on an adaptor plate of sort to make it work. I think your speakers will bolt right up, buddy.

Cool, I hope your right. I know the older ones had the plate you mentioned but someone on the Vic forums told me Ford got rid of that and just made it 6 x 8 sized in the newer cars. Guess I will find out when I pull it all apart.

From my experience with Fords the 6x9s won't fit... At least they didn't in my '01 Stang... or my '92 Tempo for that matter... lol I ended up getting 6x8s... or 5.25" Speakers with 6x8 Adaptor Plates...

Yeah, thats what I am thinking. I know for a fact the 92-97 vics have the adapter plate that Ryan is talking about. But the CVN guys tell me that my car is like your 01 mustang. its 6x8's or cut to make the bigger ones fit. I guess Ill know for sure when I pull the car apart. Worst case I buy comparable 6 x 8's and sell the 6 x9's

Thanks. You're welcome. This will save from drilling new holes and you won't have to buy new speakers.

Just a small update, I ordered those adapters on 4/22/09. Its now May 1st and I still have no tracking info from this autotoys place. I emailed them and they insist that its been shipped but I have no way to track it. Just a heads up to anyone considering placing an order from this company.
