Ok I've got it down to two different places to get my window tinted. I'm on a budget of bout $200. Both places charge about 130-150, but charge an extra 50-70 bucks for removing old tint. I'm planning on getting this done on Thursday or Friday. Anybody have any thoughts..

Superior or Tintboyz?

I voted for tintboyz cause I have never gone to superior. Tintboyz you can haggle with on price a bit.

I have never been to superior. But I got my neon tinted at Tintboyz. GREAT place. They let me stay back there and watch the whole time. The kid who tinted my car was obviously very good at what he does. And chatted with me the whole time. My lambo doors made it a pain to do the fronts. Also had to remove stickers on the inside windows I had on. But he didn't complain once. It took him longer than it normally did. He stayed 30 mins past close time to finish my car up. I handed him 10 bucks tip for everything. Tint came out perfect.

Gramps sent me to Superior and I, in turn, have sent several people there since. Nobody has been anything but pleased. I have a friend out in Big Bend too that has been doing this for 15 plus years so depending on your location, I can get you his info too...

Tintboys does all my cars, Lifetime warranty can't beat it. Example: I took in a car that my dog scratched the side window, fixed it no questions asked.

I've been to superior once and they were awesome! They were telling me about how they do the rear window 1 piece whereas a lot of shops will do it in 2 pieces (huge f-body rear window). I took off my old tint, wasn't too bad. Just used a hair dryer, razor blade, and some brake cleaner.

Was it tough on the back window? How long did it take you?

Thanks for the replies guys. I talked to tintboyz and they said it would take 3-6 hours. Superior said it would take alot less. They both have a lifetime warranty. Oh and I live in Janesville, so I'll be travelling about an hour to and hour and a half. The closest guy here is about $100-$150 more and he's rude, so he's not getting my business.

I had a guy named Joe Rajchel do mine. His website is www.tinterforhire.com

I was a little bit leery on taking it to an individual I contacted through craigslist, but he was very professional and let me watch his every move. He works out of a garage in Big Bend or he can come to you he also offers a Lifetime warranty on the tint.

He did my regular cab s10 20% for $80 and it looks great!

I'm interested in getting my evo done as well, what percent tint are you guys going with and what is legal? Is it 35 or 20? Also where do the police start to hassle you? lol

Isn't only 50% legal?

I got 20% all around on the insight, and had the wifey's vibe done up with 20% back, 35% front.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe it's 50% for the front two windows, and 35% for the rears.

It is. I got a ticket for 20 back in teh day. Both the cop and the law states it is 50 up front 35 in the rear. Then tend to not care about the rear windows as much as the fronts though.

Makes two of us. I got hit by Racine Co. a couple years ago with 15% all around. $110 ticket.

my silverado had the two doors tinted to match the factory rear privacy glass, so it was about 15%. I also had the entire windshield done in 45%.... never had issues...

The trailblazer also has 15% on the fronts, and will have the windshield done the same as the silverado. so far no problems in that either.

+1 for blackout. I just brought 2 pieces to him to tint and it is perfect and I thought the price was pretty good. I have 5% on the sides and 5% over 20% in the rear of my Lightning.

The law is 50% on the sides and 35% everywhere else. You can generally "get away with" a pinch darker depending on a lot of things. Like it or not, some vehicles get profiled.

But anywho.... if you want to play by the book, it's 50/35.

I've never been pulled over for window tint, ironically. With the 15% on the front doors of my silverado, west allis never stopped me for it, passed washington county sheriffs on my way to work and they never stopped me, oak creek pd never stopped me for it... So far the Trailblazer with the same tint setup hasn't been hassled either. The Saturn was black on black and I think that was 35% all the way around and that was never hassled either.

the Queer has 35% i believe....been pulled over once in suckass wis...after doing business at the sheriff's office, by a sheriff that was behind me in the lot......what bunch of tools...then went to wauk sheriff's dept...there they have an unmarked black Charger which looks to be limo tint on the sides...they took care of my ticket...those guys i like...just think suckass had nothing better to do then pull over a old man and harass him...:goof

Same guy that did mine? If so he does do good work, he did a few cars for me and turned out flawless. I hadn't heard of him in the past couple of years and started going to blackout for the mazda and yukon. He also did flawless work too.

It came out GREAT. I am very happy with the result and price. It came to 129.95 for the tint and an extra 50 to remove the old stuff. I'll post pics up when I get a chance, The only bad thing Is I won't be able to roll down the windows for a week,So no t-tops off cruising tomorrow in the 80 degree weather, and no windows down at Jefferson. Oh well I think it looks better with the windows up now.

Jsho13
04-23-2009, 05:43 PM
I always heard it was two days before rolling down the windows. The day I got my yukon tinted my fiance thought it would be a good idea to roll down the windows. Even after me reminding her about a dozen times. Didn't do any damage but I usually try to keep the windows up as long as possible after getting the tint done.

URLOZIN
04-23-2009, 05:54 PM
Well one guy said 3-5 days the other uy said a week. I don't want to take a chance. He said th ecolder it is outside the longer you can't roll them down. I think they just need to cover themselves incase someone's doesn't dry fast enough.

Yeah I did. On a side note..... Holy shit! there are so many cops in west Allis. I was actually in the town less than 5 minutes, just from 84th st. til I got onto 45 North or whatever highway it was and I saw like 8 or 9 cops. That's nuts. I was paranoid that they were going to get me for the tint already.lol
