A few years ago my sister was in a car accident. A guy pulled out in front of her totaling her 96 Z28. My dad got it in his head that he was going to fix it and drive it. While trying to locate parts I found Scotty, he had a 96 Z28 SS that had been stripped and was looking to get rid of it. After picking it up my dad did some searching and by our best guess the SS has less than 40K on it (granted it's only a chassis). So the plan became to transfer everything from the Z28 to the SS. This was supposed to be done in a years time. It's been almost 3 years now and all that's accomplished is the Z28 has been stripped and chopped into itty bitty pieces and dumped from scrap metal. I'm sitting here with an SS chassis and a ton of parts waiting for the old man to open the purse strings. He's also got a 70 Charger that's been sitting for the last 20 years with little to nothing accomplished on it. I'm trying to convince him to just dump the SS and parts. There's practically a complete car here save for some minor parts damaged in the accident, that weren't on the SS. What would a pile of parts like this be worth?? Would $3000 be unreasonable?

Doesn't sound unreasonable to me.....I mean, you have all the parts, so it seems like a decent price.

Sell it as a 1:1 scale model car kit.:rolf ...or you build it.

Good luck selling it in parts, a car in parts isn't worth 25% of what it would be worth whole.

I'm gonna say a g-note. Is there a clean title for this? There is a fine line between selling an unfinished project and pawning off a fvck-story on some-one else.

Yes title is clear and have carfax report showing last reported mileage as 32K. Cluster shows 34K.

Only problem is that it's not gonna get whole any time soon and I'm sick of holding onto it when he's got a nicer car that needs the attention.

Well, it's not for sale yet. I'm trying to get enough info to convince the old man to sell it.

Sorry to tell you man, but it's not even worth half of the 3k, unless you part it out, you may be able to get 2k, but it's a lot of work to completely part out a car. mGood luck though with whatever you decide.

Can you prove it was a legit SS?

If the VIN wouldn't be enough proof what else do I need??

Everything is off at this time. Other than listing parts for sale, the hard work is done.

I am not a GM dude, but isn't there a white sticker that lists all the options the car came with on the car somewhere?

I'm not a GM guy either. I'm pretty sure my dad verified it as an SS but I couldn't tell you how.

You can check the rpo codes from the door on the internet.

Look for the build sheet. Sometimes under the carpet or even on top of the gas tank.

Keep the Camaro and sell me the Charger!!
Better yet, give up the Charger to have the Camaro assembled, Then you have one car done.

If you come up with a price, let me know. My uncle is looking for a project to tackle this summer.
