Got my Taillights tinted.

Well, After a couple people suggesting it in my last thread. I got my taillights tinted. I also purchased a set of 2004+ All red taillights to use for the tinting. Here is the new look.

Its the Bondurant racing/Roush Cobra vic spoiler

It's a very, very rare Roush Performance Cobra Vic spoiler. They were made special for Bob Bondurant Racing school. He had 18 Crown Vics built back in 1999 with 4 valve Cobra motors and custom body work. The spoilers were never released for public purchase. I was lucky enough to stumble across one that was new in the box on craigslist. Purchased at a Roush warehouse liquidation sale of some kind. Here is a link to a real Cobra Vic.

Well, they are not street legal. No Vins and no emissions. So its strictly a track toy. However, I thought I caught wind of one for sale right now asking price 30 grand. Supposedly only 3 were ever sold to 2nd owners by Bondurant.

Its a custom bumper. Upper half is Crown Vic lower half is a Sn95 Cobra bumper. There is one guy one CVN that has duplicated it, but is having some cracking issues. If he works out the bugs ya never know.

If he could glass the two together, best bet would be to make a mold of it. then make it as 1 solid piece of fiberglass... JMO..

Edit: Is that the bumper that was on those cars for the Bondurant set up???? or did that owner make the bumper himself?

I like the tails alot. I was very hesitant to pull the trigger but I am glad I did it. The bumper worries me. It looks great on a black car but on my white car, I am not so sure how it would end up looking.

It's actually not too bad. It's one of the things I was worried about also. I will try and get a picture with brake lights on.

Just for a bit of extra light, I bought a Whelen super bright LED third brake light for the back window. Just for a little extra piece of mind.

**Edit** Heres a pic with the brakes on. The LED Third brake light is not installed yet.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The exterior is just about done. I just gotta finish up my headlight black out project. Then the stereo equipment is getting installed. Then the performance mod pile starts being built.

Marauder air box/zip tube/80mm MAF and Dyno Tune
Possible upgraded throttle body and ported plenum
Underdrive pullies.
And maybe when all my bills are paid in full. Ill treat myself to a supercharger.

i love tinted tails i broke down and did mine a while back and i'll never look back. mine are quite a bit darker then yours cuz i wanted that all black look with no red but everyone i know can see the lights through them but i've come across people that tell me i have brake lights out. so either they can't see them or my bulbs a messed up. i'm betting on the people can't see them but there clear as day at night

Definitely looks nice. I should add that mine are NOT nightshaded. Crash mixes up some kind of custom transparent candylike black paint. It seems to let more light through than the VHT Nightshade stuff. I'm no expert so I think I'm saying this right.

I believe its clear mixed with a few drops of black thats how most do it. And yea mine are VHT'd

Yeah, I have contemplated picking up some brighter taillight bulbs for my car even though it shines through pretty well. I can't run LED because of the stupid Lighting control module, and the only Halogen bulbs I can find are the stupid Blue ones so that won't work in my taillights.

Anybody have any ideas if something like this exists in a clear halogen bulb?

I think you are at a high risk of being pulled over. Police know crown vic's in and out and well spot the tinted tails right away. Looks great, but I would get a spare set of tail lights right away. I always turn on my headlights whenever I see a cop too.

Yep, What pork said. If any type of light hits them they are still red. Its a deep Burgundy but definitely not black. I do have a spare set of tails though just in case.

Ok, I finally was able to complete the headlight blackout project that I have wanted to do for the last year. With that project being over, my exterior modifications are complete. Tomorrow my new stereo & speakers gets installed. Then the performance pile starts getting added too. Here are the final pics.

the headlights are kinda cool i know guys were doing something like that on the ls1 camaro's i always kinda liked the non blingy headlights somethign stealthy about them
