5 speed swaps are pretty straight forward. That hardest part was getting all the parts together. And that wasn't very hard.

Really? I didn't know that. I wouldn't know where to get the parts for the swap though... but I guess I got at least 100 Mustang guys on this forum to ask. :goof

Clutch pedal assembly - Free-$50 (depending on where you source it from)
Clutch Quadrant - Free-$20 (I got a steeda quadrant from ebay for $10) and it is worth replacing it. The stock one is a junk two unit.
Stock Bellhousing - Free-$50
T-5 - $300-$400
Flywheel Free-$100
Clutch and Pressure Plate just buy new, most are under $200 for both.
Clutch Cable Free-$50

Ambition to do it... Priceless Sorry just had to through that in there.

Now keep in mind that these are used parts prices. If you are patient enough you can piece it together rather cheap.

I think that is about it.

Irish
04-16-2009, 11:38 AM
The trans tunnel itself is not different. There is a plate that you have to change iirc, But the actual tunnel itself, the stamped sheet metal is not different. Do you realize how much money would be involved with having do two different floors on the assembly line? That would totally defeat the purpose of the assembly line.

Yes, it is mine but since I don't have a license it's mine/dads (I paid 100% for it..)
It's a nice car I just can't afford to do mods to it from bone stock and would rather keep it stock since it's hard to find a Mustang that doesn't have even 1modification.

DurtyKurty
04-16-2009, 12:12 PM
The trans tunnel itself is not different.

All they did for the five speed (only) cars was to cut the hole in the tunnel larger and add a sheet metal "Riser" to the tunnel. The T-5's shifter mount protrudes a little higher than the 4-speed that the tunnel was originally designed for. It's not a must have. Most people don't bother with it.

Stock airbox (silencer behind the fender skirt) still in place even? usually that is the first thing removed...If I were you I would keep it, as there is still a lot you can do to it while keeping it "stock". There are 10 "mods" that can be done to it that wil allow you to go back to stock when you are not at the track, like a shorter belt, removal of the air silencer, removing the front sway bar, ect......However, if you really do want to sell it (and yes, finding one completely stock is hard, especiall one that is not priced in the realm of reality) then pm me for the website that I posted my 88 on....Keep in mind, mine wasnt stock, and no where near in as good of shape body wise as this one, and I got 4700 for it......Also, just out of curiosity, because I might know of someone who would want this, how is the front of the floors on the underside, the underside of the hatch, and the condition of the strut towers?

I'm not sure on the silencer but it should be there.. There is very minor rust by the drivers feet, the hatch has very little surface rust, and the strut towers are good.. That's all I know of I can double check later also.. Also no rust on the body before paint!

I had to make the hole in the floor larger (removed material from the front of the hole) when I did my swap. Also the upper intake needs to be removed and a hole drilled in the fire wall to run the speedo cable the the factory location. I didn't do mine like this, but I should have and will do this on my next one.

Hardest part is changing out the pedals.

Back in '99 we weren't aware of it but it could've been a bump in a parking lot (it doesn't give details) but John checked for bondo with a little tool and didn't find any.. Nothing wrong with the car that shows an accident..

There was nothing else besides the rust on the old fenders as far as I know.. I didn't paint the jams when it was repainted I just painted the outside..
