Google chrome, Firefox, opera is OK as well. Pick your poison, they all do stupid shit.

I heard bad things about google chrome, like it has some sort of spyware in it or something like that

Firefox is getting pretty fawkin' gay. I've been using it since before it was Firefox... somewhere around 2003. I even converted the University I worked at to using Firefox in Spring 2004. If there was a way to import all my saved passwords into IE I'd go back. Anything Firefox can do IE7 can do. Firefox 1.5 was at its best, 2.0 was mediocre, 3.0 is spelling death.

I was having issues with internet explorer. I tried upgrading to version 7 or 8, and every time I did, it told me I was missing a DLL file in my registry and couldn't complete the upgrade.... Which doesnt make any sense to me because I JUST reformatted the computer 4 days ago

I switched to Firefox about 2 months ago. It was a good decision.
