I bring my dslr all the time. You can bring your bag in, they'll just check it at the gate to make sure you aren't smuggling in crack rock or anything.

No tripods or monopods allowed though.

You really need a backup 20 or 30D or something for instances like this.

I have taken my 1D with a 100-400 Lens, you will be fine. I have gotten in with monopods.

watch out for the drunk idiot sloshing beer. Last time I took mine a guy almost dropped a full glass on to me/my camera not once but twice. Never again. Not worth going to jail for beating some guy's ass for destroying $2-3K in camera gear.

I would take it to any other game but not opening day too many drunks around and too manythings could happen to it

If you are planning on going to opening day, I would leave the camera at home.

With your current camera I wouldn't want any of the drunken fools spilling a beer or accidentily knocking it down. If you had a cheaper 20 or 30D it wouldn't be quite as bad, but I guess you still have to worry about the lens too.

I've had fun taking my dslr to games. Kinda depends on where your seats are too though...

I have seats in 112, so i'd be there. I think it's fairly safe there from being there in the past. Not too many drunks in that section I don't think. I wanted to run around the tailgaters before hand too and offer group photos and hand out my business card too for them to buy on my site if they wanted. Shameless promotion. haha

Not a bad idea. At events I notice more and more how people don't use or take their camera's anywhere, even point and shoots. I got asked by some of the parents at a few basketball games if I could take pictures of the family, friends all together.

Next will be a photographic version of Girl's Gone Wild by Nick. :thumbsup
