The Blazer is running great still, but with the amount of driving she has been doing lately I think its in our best interest to sell it and find her a vehicle that gets better then 20 mpg. She wants a bigger car or SUV but can't afford an HHR, looking to stick with a GM car. Any suggestions or know of anything, let me know.

My mother's friend has a Kia ? Sportage ? (I think that's what it's called, anyway....) He loves it, and it seems pretty affordable......Maybe she'd like one of those?

Parameters on how much you'd be willing to spend? Maybe an 2000-ish Impala? I can't recommend older malibu's, despite the newer ones being somewhat better.

I can't think of something other fitting the parameters within the GM fold other than maybe a Equinox (but those would be as or more expensive than an HHR) or the Aztek/Rendevous twins (large, okay decent mileage should find cheap).

Otherwise I'd look for a used mazda protoge wagon; perhaps a lancer wagon. Another consideration is an older subie forrester or mitsu outlander, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V types...

are you 100% stuck on GM? If so why? Get her a nice used Civic and call it a day. 32mpg highway easy, reliable, great resale and overall just a nice car to drive

Or a used Focus wagon if she wants more room. They can be had all day for under $10k, and the mileage is in the 30 range.

Yeah a Vibe / Matrix would be a good car too.

But, if you're looking it that price range, you can afford an HHR.

No Kia's, your kidding right?

I didn't even consider that body style impala, I don't know why :durr The seem to be going pretty cheap now. I'm looking to spend 4-5k and hoping to find something with out too high of mileage.

GM feeds my family, my ENTIRE family. Not only that, but thats all I've had besides the honda and I've never had any serious problems with any of the vehicles I have owned.

Her older sister has a focus and she said it feels cheap, like my honda did :rolf

I will look into Vibes too, they have a lot of interior space? She loves that about her blazer

You can find HHRs from 2006 and 2007 going cheap. the things based at 17,000 new. used ones gotta be good deal. There are some interesting cars outside of GM, but if you want to stay in the "family", then I won't bring them up.

These seem to be decent price ranges.
