I thought I would share some pictures from my deployment, we've had some really nice weather and some dusty weather as well. But I can't complain, I'm at one of the nicest bases in the middle east for sure. Should be home in about 2 months!

Just the other day myself and a couple firefighters went to visit the K-9 unit on base for a K9 demonstration as well as education. The K-9 unit on base is responsible training and maintaining more then a dozen German Shepherds on base for security patrols and explosive sweeps in and around base. We got to strap on the "Chew-suit" and have the dogs attack us, which was pretty fun and a little nerve racking at the same time.

Nice pics!

Did that one "pyramid" looking thing get plowed by a missle or something?!?!

Those dogs look an awful lot like Belgians. But they and the German Shepherds can look alike sometimes though so who knows...

Be safe and see ya' soon! :thumbsup

If it was bombed the building would have been scorched by fire after the impact. My guess... arab engineering.:D

See, our 10lb. Dustmop dog has no idea that our Belgian is capable of this type of behavior.

Thankfully, the Belgian doesn't seem to know it either! He did put a few punctures in the little one when he was more of a puppy and didn't know his own strength. That seems to have passed.

at the first picture of you in the red coat, I was saying to myself:

"What if the dog doesn't bite the coat and bites you in the ass?"

Thanks for the great comments guys, I'm having a blast out here. Great people, training and loads of experience to apply to my job back home. Can't wait to have a beer when I come home which should be about 2 months from now.

Prior to 1990, the French, under contract, built large reinforced concrete hardened aircraft storage (HAS) bunkers for the Kuwaiti Air Force. The French told the Kuwaitis that the structures were impenetrable. After Iraq took over the base, they moved the Kuwaiti aircraft and parked the Iraqi aircraft in the hangars. The French impenetrable claim turned out to be wrong when the US and allied forces, in the opening hours of desert storm, punched through the concrete bunkers. The Kuwaitis are still involved in legal suits over the "impenetrable clause of the contract." The French claim that they had no way of foreseeing that the US had invented bunker busters - some say that the French intended for the bunkers to protect against Soviet-procured Iraqi weapons.

I've been to that base a few times on my way in/out. :durr Here is the inside of one of the bunkers on that base for those who want to see how thick it is.

We have a camel at the Bazaar here on BAF but the guy charges like $20 to have your picture taken with it.

2 months left? Damn...I've got a month and a half left...I'd stop by and say whats up on my way out but I guess we're going through Manas.
