So this morning on my way to work traffic sucked as usual, was stop and go accordian crap. I was in a group going about 40-45 in the left lane behind a big white van. The white van and the car in front of it changed lanes real quick because there was a red grand am in front of them stopped(which I didn't see until it was to late). So I had about 4-5 car lengths to react and brake from 40 to 0. I was two footin the brake with everything I had, truck wasnt stopping fast enough. The red grand am was in the right side of the lane and there is about 2' of shoulder in this spot so I went left to try and stop next to him. When I went left I hit the little bit of snow right at the wall and started to slide. Clipped mirrors with the red grand am as I went by on the left. The gray honda infront of him was more to the left of the lane and I wasn't going to fit so I hugged into the wall and went up it a little. Ran the side of my truck down the side of her car. Then my bumper just barrely bumped the black honda in front of her. Only left a scuff and a little paint transfer on the black car. The gray car is just like my s10 every side body panel is creased, scuffed, scratched, dented... and clipped her mirror off. My mirror flipped in and cracked, it still works but its cracked.
I stopped at the body shop at lunch (Leonard, same place that did my z71) He said he could easily total it because the crew cab parts are hard to come by and he would have to buy all brand new gm stuff. So he said after he gives his number to the insurance company they will probably give me the option of money and keeping the truck(it still runs and drives fine).
Depending on what the insurance company offers I might go that route and then have someone fix it. Anyone interested in tackling something like this? Like I said front fender is dented, both doors are dented / creased and scratched, the cab behind the back door has a crease and cut through the steel, the box is dented in pretty good and both fender flares are toast.
I will post pictures up later when I get home from work.
