I kinda just went off the ddm site, probably not the greatest idea, but i really dont care because they aren't going in my car lol. The gf said she wanted that blueish color, I have 8000k's in the cobalt, but she wanted "prettier headlights." Not that it matters because she has a projector low beam, and a halogen high beam.

OK, maybe I missed it but what is needed to run HIDs and have them work for high and low beams? I'm sure I need the kit and a relay harness, but what else?

These would be on a Grand Cherokee and maybe on my F150. I'm not concerned right now with which bulbs for each, thats easy.

when I did a set on a dakota, they were a different type of bulb that had the hid bulb and the high beam bulb in the housing and a relay wasnt needed.

if it's a single bulb, double filament, there's a specific set that will fix that. no relay needed.

Dont you need the relay harness for startup on the HID because of the voltage?

what year is the GC? wouldnt hurt to get the wiring harness, its cheap enough.

Its an 04. Ya know, I never noticed until now that highs and lows are seperate bulbs on her Heep. The lows are 9006 and highs are 9005.

I dont think you need a harness for an 04 and if they are separate then I wouldnt bother with it.

I made a new thread in the General forum with my review. I haven't seen them for $32 again, I won that auction at that price but they are all over for $35-ish.

the ONE bulb in my bike died a while back. it lasted a year and i'm shure the ballast is dead as its been bouncing around loosly in the front end for some time. the new one i'll be mounting securely and see if it works longer better.

Does anyone know if there would be any issues with one of these kits on a 1996 Passat? Not sure if the factory harness could handle it or not?

vw wiring sux i wouldn't try it lol

badass88gt
10-29-2010, 08:48 PM
I dont see why it wouldnt work, all the increased voltage to run HIDs is run through the wiring that comes in the kit. The factory wiring plugs into the ballast, then its aftermarket from there out.

So the ballasts also pull power from the battery not just the stock plug/harness?

Alright I thought I would update this thread, my DDM kit is going strong in Lisas old blazer no issues at all. I bought a kit from Mod Express and last month I had a bulb turn pink, then burned out 2 weeks later. When I contacted them, they asked me to switch the ballasts to make sure it was a bulb issue ( which it was ) and they sent a replacement out right away. Great customer service, although it appears they aren't as cheap as they used to be.

yup my ddm kit is working awsome in my truck. DDM no longer makes the apexcone kits any more. so no more cheap hids from them. they will back all the products warranties tho should there be an issue. i may have to see if i can get the one warrantied for my busa yet. i have a back up set for that in the meantime but would be nice to get that fixed i think it needs a ballast

just had a bulb die after a little more then 2 years. i ordered mine pretty much the day Pork posted this. it was flickering, i thought the headlight was loose. now it died. i guess that's really not all that bad, i moved them between vehicles 3-4 times... ordered a set of replacements, they were like 28 dollars total shipped

I'm having an issue getting power to the ballast. I have everything wired correctly i believe. For some reason its just not firing. the wires for my pin lay out on the hid harness is blue yellow brown. I'm assuming the brown is the ground. Blue is the high beams? I just dont under stand why the ballast are not even getting power.

WickedSix

the plug from the ballast to the factory plug can be snapped in two ways...unplug it turn it 180 degrees and plug it back in...common on gm

That_Guy
11-16-2011, 08:14 AM
I received wires that are not in the female plug. The colors don't make sense to me. Blue yellow brown. My gm harness is grey red black

theavenger333

wiring colors versus factory don't matter whatsoever. the kits are all universal. What bulb type are you plugging in? like said above, reverse the polarity, aka the plug from the vehicle, that plugs into the HID kit. Plug it in "upside down" if you will, they go in either way.

That_Guy
11-16-2011, 12:40 PM
Car is not leased.. It's owned.. And the wires came in the box out of the plug. Ill snap a picture when i get the chanc. its weird

theavenger333
11-17-2011, 03:28 AM
they always come that way. the plastic plug should be in the box, you need to clip the wires in it. they only go in one way

The Shaolin
11-17-2011, 10:23 AM
On my truck, I had to flip the polarity of the wires going into the ballast. Light bulbs don't care which side is positive or negative, HID kits do. In a pair, the darker wire is usually -
