so a customer brings a battery in today for me to test, so as its doing the load test and im waiting i notice a sticker on the side that says "it is known to the state of California that battery acid may cause cancer" :rolf

Is there a law in CA that items need to have labels like that? I have seen so many weird signs and pictures from that state that make me think that is the case.

Yes. Most California laws are more strict then federal. Especially when it comes to automotive stuff. Most chemicals must be very low or no VOC .
