I often wonder how many vehicles I would own if I had a money tree, because this would most defiantly be one of them for obvious reasons.....

2200lbs :wow

^^^ That's what impressed me the most...!!! I'm not too knowledgeable on the weight of Cobras but 2,200 pounds is a LOT lighter than I would have guessed. Assuming it's making at least 300hp/250ft-lbs that should be one quick ride as-is, but 400+hp is very easy to make with those motors so "DAMN!" is all I have to say to the potential......:wooo

I'm really curious as to how much he wants for it......:D

I would be caught off guard not hearing a huge V8 sound coming out of that thing.

I still think it's cool - but the sound would be part of the experience for me, too.

It's like the new Ford EcoBoost series of engines, "V8 performance with V6 gas mileage"......:goof

Made 4 quick bids and was outbid every time. I have no idea what the reserve on that would be. Must be over 11. :)

Meh....I could do without the engine.

What would you rather have in its place...??? Sure I'm partial to the Yamaha V6 but please don't say a V8 Ford small block. I'm not knocking the V8 Fords in any way but you see more Cobras with SBFs on the road than you do Ford Taurus'. I guess I'm weird in the fact that I can appreciate something more because it's different.....

Ok ok...Just personal opinion, but what kind of assclown puts an SHO engine in an American Icon vehicle like that??? Some phuckin people should be shot in the head more then once!

So when the new owner of the car pulls up to a car show with a vrrom vroom exhaust.......everyone laughs.

No sir, the sound of a nasty cammed SBF never get's old. What sets them apart is new ideas. HE could do a 427 stroked SBF, EFI, he could find ways to hide all wires, chrome everything, ect ect

Yeah just like the 'vroom-vroom' of countless exotic sports car engines, don't hear too many people laughing when an uber high $$$ V6/10/12 'something' pulls into a car show.....:shades

American Icon maybe, but you do realize that that's based on a little Brit car. Plus most of the real good modern ones are replicas and most of the very best of those are made in South Africa.

Very well aware of that. There is a reason that Carrol's went for stupid money a few years ago and there is a reason that the fetch high dollar even in a bad market. It should have a SBF or BBF and that's that

WOW you are a LOT more brave than me, but I'm guessing it's around 15-20k......:)

What would you rather have in its place...???.

An LS1 of course. And if you could afford it- an LS7.

Not that brave. If I got it for $11K I'm sure I could find a way to turn a buck on it. (I watch Chasing Classic Cars on TLC all the time. :) ) You might be right though. It's $15.6K now with lots of time left.

I would guess he's looking for at least 30k out of it. Looking over the listing I see about 35k in receipts factoring in 10k for the motor/driveline. These cars are not cheap to build and the cost goes way up when you start modding the driveline.

Car Guy
03-24-2009, 11:20 AM
So you think that 30k is the number as it sits, what do you think it would sell for with no motor/trans...???

I was thinking the drive train that's in it would severely decrease the value.....

I looked for cars less engine/trans and it was all over the map as far as prices went. Most were b/w 17-25G. I found a couple unfinished projects in the 10G range...

...It should have a SBF or BBF and that's thatLet's correct for accuracy:

Ok ok...Just a stupid personal opinion, but....AH, much better.

People should put whatever the fuck they want in it...and be happier for it. Why should you have a say what others do with their time or money?

Why not, if he wanted, put a chrysler A block as AC used to? Why not a ford straight six in it? Why not a chevy small block?

When you build one, enjoy your SBF or BBF. Great. Knock yourself out. No reason for you to give a rat's ass about what others do, nor berate others for choices you wouldn't make about something so trivial as what engine is in a car.

Id like to see a Mass Air Edel. Headed 331 with a Novi on it through a 5 speed:drool::drool::drool: That would be craaaazy fast and sound tits.

Putting a Ecotec in a Chevelle is cool right?=FAIL

I'm pretty happy with a carb'ed 347. Good power to weight with a ton of aftermarket support. Blowers are cool on a mustang but look weird under the hood of a cobra. As far as cool swaps I like this one.

I'd rock that one too except for the fact of it having that 'vroom-vroom' exhaust sound......:D
