guy at work wants to buy my ruger super redhawk .44. i have no idea what it is worth. i bought it used a couple years ago and i paid $450 for the gun, a case, a box of ammo, and the scope rings. i would basically be selling the same package to him. how do these things hold their value? i was thinking $350?? would that be too much or not enough??

thanks.

i ended up selling it to him for $400 and he has to pay for the transfer of the title. i probably sold it too cheap, but i have no use for it. has sat in the closet for a couple years.

Christ, next time you want give away a gun, let me know!!!

I have the same .44, very nice revolver IMO, much nicer then the S&W's... You should have been able to get what you paid or even more for that gun.

the guy was really grinding me. i was going to sell it to him for $300 :wooo. then i figured i would look into it a bit. over on HCS they all figured i should get $450 for it. i am happy with $400. never used the thing.

That's the way you gotta look at selling stuff... not "what's it worth" but "what's it worth TO YOU." I've sold some stuff dirt cheap because I had no use for it, but on the same token, I still have my Roger Clemens card collection because it's worth more to me than what people are willing to pay for it.

"transfer of title"?? I've never had nor heard of a title for a gun much less a transfer of one. Is this something I've just never heard of??

I assume he means just going to an ffl and having the transfer done there on a 4473. Seems like an unnessesary expense/hassle to me, since you don't have to on a private party transaction. I just make up a bill of sale for them to sign, or put their info in my logbook if it's C&R.
