I'm considering purchasing a Pelican 1500 hard case for my camera. I'd like to have something like this to keep my camera and lenses in when I go on family trips etc and not have to worry about the camera getting banged up.

Anybody have any comments or suggestions about using one of these for my camera? Other ideas for a sturdy protective case?

any camera case is better than no camera case... i say go for it.
all i have for my camera is a big case but not hard like the one your looking at getting, and it works just fine for me.

That thing would be hella protective no doubt. But would you want to carry it around all the time though?
I purchased a backpack that was geared towards cameras.
Tons of padding, room to toss other stuff into it, and enough customizable comparements to keep everything in its place... its very practical.

Having both would probably be ideal but if I had to choose between one or the other, I'd probably want a bag of some sort...
100 bucks, you could get something similar from harbor freight for 20 bucks and cut into the foam or as many accessories that you need.

That is a nice bag/backpack for the money. Pork... I never considered Harbor Freight. I looked on their site and they have a similar hardcase which is just a hair smaller, for $40.
I could buy the hard case from Harbor Freight and the back pack for the same $$ as the bag I was originally looking at!!!
Thank you for the suggestions!!

I was looking to get that same backpack. Someone was selling one just like it on Craigslist about a week ago for $20. Said it was brand new! I was a little late:crying
