i remember listening to the guy with my grandpa and my dad and during hunt camp on the radio during the middle of the day while warming up from the blistering cold fall days. talk about a very distinctive voice.

I always got a chuckle out of his segways into commercials.

"Friends...let me tell you about...."

For a first time listener, it'd be hard to actually realize that he was advertising up until you listened and focused on what he was talking about until you pretty much knew what the seller of the product wanted you to know...VERY effective.

I have an aunt-in-law who's VERY liberal, and she always (absurdly) called him "the most dangerous man in America" since so many listened to him.
