View Full Version : To the asshole who hit my girlfriend's car last night and ran-

Thanks.

It's getting kind of old. First it was my mirror, which honestly isn't a big deal. Now you sideswiped my girlfriend's car. You were probably drunk this time, since it was overnight. You might not have even noticed you hit it because you were so plastered. Either way, I'm sure you were pretty worried before you took off.

What's really nice is that now she expects ME to park in front and let her have my parking spot in back. This is going to be especially hard coming this summer because- well, if you hit my Escort, I can buy another beater, but if you hit my RX7, I will kill you with a tire iron.

So thanks again, asshole. That's twice in one week!

P.S.- Anyone know where I can get a cheap fender and bumper for an '01 Grand Am in silver?

certifit for a brand new primered fender. paint is cheap. Between the fender and paint, I'm sure you would be CLEAR under your ins deductible

I really don't want to paint it. Her cousin was saying a grand to have it done by his shop... screw that I know I can do it cheaper. She's "particular" though so I just want to find a silver fender and bumper and call it a day.

even if you just so happened to find a silver grand am fender at a bone yard, you can be sure its going to have imperfections on it. for a car like that to be in the junkyard, chances are its smashed somewhere.

Buy the fender, then talk to holeshot dan. He used to mix paint at his local napa so if you bring him the fuel door off the car, he could color match it for you. Buy the SMALL amount of paint supplies for doing 1 fender and I'd spray it for you for free. Bolt it on and be done with it.

certifit fender: $29.75
paint supplies: <$50 I gaurantee it

I even have some primer left over you could use. Just need a small amount of paint, reducer, some clearcoat, and probably some hardener.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll probably do that. I'll talk to her after work tonight and see what she says. Like I said, she's "particular". I'm not paying for it, so it's her loss if she won't do it the cheaper way lol.

Hell if it was my car, I'd just make sure it wasn't rubbing and call it a day.

And yes, again. Seriously.

Thanks again. If she decides to go the smart route I'd have you spray it. My painting experience is... zero. What kind of beer do you drink?

You need to find a new parking spot. Sounds like it'll be worth the extra walking.

Morad sounds great, but then you gotta pay for shipping and then wait for it to come. Certifit. Brand new and I have yet to buy something from them that wasnt in stock. Cheap, local, generally decent parts.

Just for the record there are any ware from 9 to 15 variants of Silver for GM and I know for a fact that there are 9 variants of the same color silver for my 2000 Grand Am. If you want help with paint let me know.

yeah dan, I figured if he brought you the fuel door, you could match it. At least thats what you told me with my pops' Sable.

Yep I can take care of it. Just need the code off the spare tire cover and the gas cap door or even the damage fender and I can match it.

If that happens, make sure you get video...:shades

I'd just tell the girlfriend she can be replaced easily, the RX7, not-so-much... :rolf

She's being stupid about this too. I told her, I can fix the fender for less than a hundred bucks. Now it's all "IDK, maybe I won't bother, but I'm taking it to Maaco to get an estimate". Christ woman... what is so hard to understand about "I can fix it a lot cheaper than any shop"?

You can lead a horse to water but you can't force em to drink.

Let her learn one of life's lesson her way and in the future she will think twice.

btw dan holsehsot does it by vin number now instead of tryin to color match

88Nightmare
03-01-2009, 02:43 PM
regardless if you have the VIN, it still helps to have the fuel door to help color match. paints can fade or oxidize, when you color match it, it helps it look original on the car instead of having 10 year old paint on a car with a brand new looking fender right in the middle of it

Yup! and doesn't silver metallic tend to darken over the years?
