View Full Version : Ok, I decided what I want. Any help??

Ok, after a week of back and forth I have made my choice. I want an 07 or newer Taurus with leather, less than 35K miles, clean carfax, excellent condition, under 10K. I have one that I would buy TODAY if it was a different color (I looked at this one, it's clean, but the color I can't get over, lol)

http://apps.dealerconnection.com/dealers/griffin-ford/usedvehicles?_flowExecutionKey=_cEF963E70-00AF-C6D9-3ABE-BD24EFDBB14B_k60309DBC-B901-A1FC-8E16-A744B5460107&_eventId_vehicledetails=true&vin=1FAFP56U87A217965&dealerPACode=06360

Obviously the lower the miles the better, and it has to be a different color. If anyone sees anything, please pass it on!!!! I already have Nic and a few other car salesman looking for me, but you never know what people on here might know about. Thanks in advance!!!

Yeah, but silver or white says RENTAL FLEET!

And your point? I thought those years in that body style were fleet vehicles to begin with. It is what it is.

Mr Twigbert
02-28-2009, 09:22 AM
With intrest rates so low on new vehicles you should go that route.. Not to mention Tone (the account of the family) said if you buy new you get to write off something like $2,000 off 09's taxes since he signed the stimilus bill..

0-3% financing + dealers willing to make deals + stimulis bonus = one hell of a time to buy a new car..

lordairgtar
02-28-2009, 09:23 AM
My point is, when buying a blandly styled car (I like Tauruses, uh Tauri?) Get a bolder color like black or red or even that cool metallic green like the one I had.

Yeah, they are all rental/fleet vehicles. Which is why a clean carfax is important, as well as leather. Leather will usually keep it a private one person company type car (that were more cared for). I would love the white!!!!! Or black. I am guessing I can look at prices up to 11K, I would think there's 1K wiggle room on every used car right?????

I bought an '01 Taurus when I was 17. It's a good, safe car that gets decent gas mileage for the size.

A simple tinting of the windows makes any car no longer a "grandpa or grandma" car, in my opinion.

No, the 500 only lasted a few years, and sits on an Audi or Volvo chassis. Much nicer car than the Taurus in my opinion, but they decided to axe the name that no-one recognized and keep the Taurus name. 2010 Taurus comes back more 500 like. Bigger, better, it's the hotness.

Did you take a hard look at Fusions? They're like 2" narrower and 5"-10" shorter but they're a pretty awesome car. If I didn't get the GM employee discount I'd have bought one of those instead of my G6. You can find plenty of one-owner leases that haven't been beat unlike all the rental/fleet Tauruseseses.

I don't know if those Tauruseseses have a following or something but the sixth generation Malibu (the short/original epsilon platform, not the extended one the new Malibu is on) was relinquished to junk rental car status and no one cares about. Well, except a few diehard SS-types.

- Taurus' were made until from `86-07 (Sable `86-05) and mainly rentals in `06 -07. The only engine option for `06-07 Taurus' was the 12v-pushrod Vulcan v6, `05 was the last year for the much nicer 24v Duratec v6.....

- The 500 was made from `05`-07 and on a new platform, it was supposed to replace the Taurus.....

- For `08-09 the 500 was changed back to the Taurus with some minor cosmetic changes.....

- The 2010 Taurus is the 'all new' and will bring the return of the SHO this summer......

thats what I'm saying. They are pretty damn good in the snow too as long as its not too deep. Plenty of room interior wise, they ride excellent.

Plus as a bonus you can fit 3-4 dead bodies in the trunk (plenty of trunk space). Plus they get damn good mpg for their size with the granny gearing.

I had the same problem. It's like they figure they'll get top dollar out of one customer instead of trying to get some dollars out of four customers. So they end up with no dollars.

Carmax keeps trying to sell GM vehicles with no warranty for more than a GM Certified Used. [insert bangtard smiley here]

People don't buy a used car so it is instantly worth a ton less as soon as you drive it off the lot like a new car. I don't know what dealerships are thinking. I can tell you for certain after trying to trade 4 vehicles in the last 15 months they don't give you shit on trade so it's not like they're taking in these "really expensive vehicles" on trade and having to pass the buck on. Heck, during my used truck hunt NOT ONE person called me back even after badgering me for my contact information. BUT the new truck guys wouldn't leave me alone for three weeks. Holz is trying to sell 5 year old GMT800s out of warranty for $5k less than a brand new truck. :durr

However, I did read that GM's Certified Used sales are up 75% or something from a year ago. So something must be going on.

I'm going to end up buying a new truck unless prices come down. Even private party prices are way high. I had a heck of a time selling my 99 GMT800 with no rust and brand new LR E tires for $6000 over a year ago but people are listing their rusty ones for $7-9k.
