anyone ever replace Opti-spark themselves?

im waiting to get one, which hopefully will be in under 2 weeks. but has anyone replaced an optispark distributor themselves? I was strongly thinking about getting 2 or 3 people together and doing it. ( theres no way i could do it myself )

I will be in about a month. It seems like a very simple job. If you wanted to come and take a look at what you would be getting into, I will be starting to work on my car the 15th of march. I will post about it more later on what I am doing and see if anyone wants to come out to Watertown.

My damn Optispark just gave up the ghost yesterday. Looks like I'll be doing it here in short order... maybe I'll take some digital pictures

It's actually pretty easy. :) Nuts and bolts, basically. Give yourself a few hours and a case of beer or five and dive in.

You will need to pull the crankshaft pulley off though, which can be a ***** depending on lots of factors.

Misfiring, I take it? Too bad you can't see individual misfires (per cyl) in that car...makes things a lot easier.

Syptoms? Does it always happen, worse when it gets hot? Breaks up worse the higher in the rpm band?
