Is it possible for a old 230c.i. Chevy stove bolt six to run decent and or have some life left with compression as follows ?
100/70/85/110/105/100
Thanks.

My dad had one of these engines in a 68 Chevy truck and it burned like a qt of oil per 100 miles, called it blue waves. It ran good and was dependable depsite egg shaped cylinder walls. It was a 250c.i.
This is a 120hp marine inboard, what kind of ruinning problems does low compression cause ?
If its low performance well that wont matter to me, 120hp I think

the 2 cyls with similar low compression compared to the others make me suspect a possible head gasket leaking.
those straight 6's seems to run forever.

I think I'm going to peel the head off and slap on a new gasket, I will have a better idea on whats going on inside the engine with the head off.
