Wow I didn't think anyone would pick $1.99 its not that I wouldn't like to see that :)

Then again the Gov. might have a stake in this, if gas does rise to $4+ nobody will be taking family vacations and using gas and spending money on local places.

i think 2.99 give or take 25 cents.

i think if gas got over $4 a gallon again it could be last blow we as a country can take.

voted $5.99 just to be the odd man out. :goof

Hopefully it will not rise above $3 seeing as I have 60miles round trip daily for work. When it was at $4 and above it sucked. Also it sucks that I have to run premium in my car. But that was my choice, wither way I will have to pay for it like it or not.

$2.50 ALL DAY. Even with refineries running at 80% capacity the most you will see is $2.75.

Probably $2.50 unless the refineries get taken out by a hurricane.

Gas prices now are a direct reflection of the economy. If prices are up that will be a good outlook for the economy. I am normally very optimistic but this time I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. I voted $1.99.

Of the seven houses that sold in my pricerange in Waukesha County as listed in the Sentinel, four of them were GROSSLY underpriced, two were good deals, and one sold for 1% more than 2008 Assessed value.

Back home (mid-Michigan) my Dad told me the local dealership didn't sell any cars last week.

I say $2.99 is as close as we'll get. I'd love to see it stay at $1.99 but no way will it stay there until June.

Im throwing in 2 votes for 1.99 to 2.99

I dont think it will jump too much from that. At least I hope not....

Yeap...

Gas prices are back to being economy-driven (AKA supply and demand). If people's most prized possessions are depreciating... their 401ks are half what they were, and they aren't sure if they're going to have a job next week... there is no reason for a summertime gas price increase from people traveling. Because they're not going anywhere. Even Disney is cutting jobs and laying people off. And China doesn't need energy to produce more crap we're not buying anyway.

If they want to save the environment, raise gas prices over $4. I will ******* pedal my ass to work and everywhere else. Think of how safe street racing would be if it was all human powered..

Gas prices are back to being economy-driven (AKA supply and demand).
Gas prices are always supply and demand...with the future in mind as it should be with any commodity.

I don't see speculators having as big an impact now because many believe that with the worldwide downturn, it will be some time before we see marked increases in demand. Shipping for production of goods (not just the finished products) and construction, two of the bigger energy demands will be depressed for some time (along with marked drop in travel in general), so speculators would be stupid to go after oil at this time...unless they think inflation will kick in (which, imo, it will dramatically within the next 3-6 years), in which case, oil will be like gold in the sense that it's price will reflect inflation just as it has done the last few years with price reflecting the falling dollar.

Given that, I think the price will be far closer to 1.99 this summer than it will be to 2.99...and since we haven't seen the bottom of this recession/depression, I would not be surprised to see gas fall down to 1.50 this summer.

My understanding is that speculators are a huge reason it was "over-valued" and led to gas at the prices when they peaked....it made/makes sense based on what I read and saw.

I voted for 1.99, I think it will be higher especially around Memorial Day but closer to that than 2.99. I'm guessing 2.20-2.50 tops.

Wall street greed drove up oil futures and thats way prices peaked so high last year. Now that the county is in the shitter and OPEC seems to think $ 70 to $80 a barrel is fair I think we will see $ 3.00 again by June

No they aren't.

They went up last summer because everyone was fleeing other markets. All commodities went up.

They're finally becoming that way but prices are still inflated. Crude oil is at prices from 7 years ago but gas prices aren't.

If gas prices were truly supply and demand gas prices wouldn't spontaneously go up on the weekends.

Well, for mine and Kristie's sake I hope $1.99 - 2.99... Since she drives 50k ish/year and I drive 20-30k ish/year for work... It's bad enough watching cars depreciate... It hits ya even harder when you're paying over $3/gal for gas...

June futures contract is trading at 43.49 right now, and has been on the decline. we might see it hit 50. keep in mind the global slow down is totally screwing with w/ demand. Great slap in the face for opec after pocketing tons of US cash during the bubble. W/ the minimum mark up law gone, its pretty interesting to see gas prices all over town now. pretty big spreads and cheaper prices....... long live the free market! June we'll see 2.xx/gal
