What makes a race car a street car. Yes you can drive your race cars on the street but is This a true street car. Will it pass a state inspection? Who has the fasest street car? And A real street car not a race car that drives on the street.

I guess if it's legally on the road it's a street car. Fastest?? There is always someone faster.

Now pump gas can be a diffrent topic. You can go to eh wolf in sling and pump unleaded high octane fuel.

A REAL street car to me is something that can be run on pump gas and drive on the freeway, and can be driven anywhere locally without cooling issues.

Granted, there is a such thing as a "streetable race car" but...

Something registered and insured to be used on the road, with working horns, signals, headlights, safety gear. That's it. All that's required to be a street car (hence, why I only want this for "king of hwy 100" competitions).

Then, what makes it MORE streetable is comfort, cruising ability, range, temp control, etc, etc, etc.

Street cars are actually seen on the street.

Mine is pump gas, DOT tires, full weight (heavier actually with cage), full stock interior, stock chassis, factory block, crank, heads, and even still has air conditioning. Drives virtually the same as a stock one.

Don't get much more "street" car than that.

Otherwise, I agree with Andy - seen actually driving around must mean its "streetable". Mine would be out a lot more but it's my schedule that is usually the issue, not that the car can't be driven.

Yup! Theres been alot of threads on this topic in the past.. I would say street driven = street car! If it's drove and seen on the street (not for 2 blocks) Doesn't make a difference if it has a cage, slicks, chute.. A good example would be Snoop and Boss Lx and others..

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know which cars are fast street cars in these parts.

Jim's Viper is just at that next street car level.

Jim, you need to roll with us to a few shows this year! Nothing like way over 5,000 horsepower rolling into a show, coming out of 4 cars!:headbang

This discussion is such a waste! Everyone thinks they have the best and fastest example of a street car. I don't think anyone's two opinions will be alike.

No, but actually driving your car on the street would be a good start.

I should be ready to go this year at least on the street ( I still need more cage, chute, firesuit, and license for the track), and since I left Chrysler in October, I no longer am working Saturdays and Sundays, so I will be out a lot more again!

Street Car -
Registered, Insured and head/tail lights work.
Gas is Gas. Race, pump or e85 still street car as long as no alcohol car or meth car.

4 wheels, registered, insured, head/tail lights and it drives on street is a street car.

What about all that with a little overflow tank filled with alcohol for those boost happy occasions :shades
But yea I would have to say a car that can DD around and not overheat. Which is most of the fast cars on here anyways.

Thats right. If you can drive it anywhere and any distance you have yourself a street car.

I agree with a lot of the opinions in here sans the race gas. A street car should be able to pull up to any pump and fill up. Obviously has to be street legal to be considered a street car.

id have to say anythign that can legally be driving on the road (tires, lights, ect) and will run on any 92/93 octane fuel you get.

I would say a car that can run on pump gas , drive long distances ( 100 plus miles ) ....I would say my Ultimate Street Car would be MoparJims TT Viper.....:banana1:

I have to agree with some of the others here......a street car runs on pump gas, doesn't throw up it's coolant from normal driving.....but would still be decently fast/powerful, and capable of limited daily driver duties. My '79 could NEVER be a DD, but I won't race her......hence, I suppose she's a street car.
