426hp and 27mpg can't beat that.

426hp and 27mpg can't beat that.

I don't believe it though. Heavier than the GTO, and the GTO could only muster 25mpg. I think they are being far far far optimistic.

I agree!

It's better than the Honda S2000 with its 237hp and 25 mpg!

The new camaro doesn't weigh that much more than the GTO and am not sure if the GTOs have active fuel management but the new camaros do at least on the automatic they do

I think that would have been a great pace car in 1998 when that tear away look was "in".

However, today it looks ridiculous and dated. The white with orange stripes would have not only blown people away, but had a line of people at the dealers on Monday morning to order one. But it's GM, and this is what they do. Mismarket cars constantly, and piss all over their heritage.

agreed. I never liked how the '02 35th Anniversary SS all of a sudden had stripes on the roof, but the car never did before.

I'm 99% sure the GTO's have NO active fuel management at all. the LS2 Trailblazer SS, which are all automatic, do not have any active fuel management

as previously covered in another topic all Gen IV SBC's are provisioned for AFM/DoD, though not all use it. Also covered in another topic, the gains in fuel economy in AFM/DoD thus far have been proven to be quite marginal thus far. I just don't how a car that is over 200lbs heavier is going to get better fuel economy. More accurately, take a look at the Pontiac G8, it's not scoring 27mpg anytime soon, and it's based off of the same chassis, and is about the same weight.

FWIW, when my car was stock I only got about 23.5mpg, and currently do 20.6mpg at best in an extended trip.
