Anyone work at a tire shop that sells nitto's? Wheels and tires came for my car today. I didn't think about/research my tire selection enough. I need some help picking out a correct size tire for the front. I'd rather take the hit of buying tires locally and selling these ones I have that are the wrong size than deal with trying to return this wheel and tire package I bought over the internet.

285/35/18 rears and 245/45/17 fronts. they have the same over all height and I want the fronts to be shorter (less sidewall).

wow, a 245/45 is already getting pretty close to rubber bands, how much smaller do you want to go? I wouldn't go much less than a 245/40 and the difference is minimal at that. What are you trying to accomplish exactly?

I'm pretty sure Forest Tire on Forest Home Avenue in Greenfield carries Nitto's. Ask for Jerry.

Didn't think to call CC. I found the size I'll go with in a Yokohama, I believe he can get them. I will have to contact him.

I'm trying to get smaller tires in the front. 285/35/R18 has the same diameter as a 245/45/R17. The front tires have 4.34 inches of side wall, while the rears have 3.96 inches of sidewall. Looks stupid. I'm gonna go with a 215/35/R17. It has a sidewall an inch sorter than the rears and a diameter three inches shorter than the rears; giving me the staggered big & little look I'm going for.

215/35 is gonna be retarded skinny for the front of that thing... you'd be better off going like 235'ish... 235/40's are very common... and a 40 aspect ratio is going to protect those nice new rims better on the street than the 35's can even dream of!

and big bear does sell nittos... so give us a call and we can work with you! 262-567-4449

235/40 has only a 1/4 inch shorter side wall than the 285/35r18's on the rear.

Thoughts on a 225/35/R17? I never gave much thought about allowing for some sidewall cushioning to protect the rims.

I'm not set on Nitto's, but I do want an ultra high performance summer tire. I'd like to do some SCCA cone killing this summer. Was hopping to find a retailer of nittos to see if I could get some trade in value on my "used" take offs on a new pair of hoops in a size I'm happy with.

if you're worried about the look more, go with a thicker sidewall in the back... the fronts are going to HATE having that thin of a sidewall... not only is it going to cushion the wheel more, the slightest crack or wave in the pavement is going to send you off the road... i may be exaggerating a little, but it's worse the lower you go on sidewall... i drive daily in the summer on 40's.. but that's the lowest i'd comfortably go.... and as for cone killing, there's way too many companies coming out with some insane street tires this year for me to get into detail here... Toyo, Bridgestone, Yokohama, Dunlop, Hankook, Kumho, Nitto, and even Falken is rumored to have a step-up from the current Azenis 615 coming out soon! i'm so giddy!:banana1:

Josh,

I'll have to find some time to get out by you and talk with ya about this. I think selling the 245/45/17's i have for the front and adjusting the front size accordingly would be easier than the rears.
